Muso - mains lead change.

Hi, some feedback on my experience. A few months ago I posted a question about whether people has tried changing the mains lead to the Muso - to make something that sounded so good even better! The usual Naim upgrade virus! A couple of responses suggested to leave well alone, 'Missing Link' had been tried but at the cost of musicality. Others suggested Nordost Purple Flare.
The Nordost suggestion did appeal to me as I am a fan of the sound of Nordost leads - I use their Red Dawn speaker and interconnect leads. I managed to get them second hand so were 'affordable'. But £160 plus for a mains lead on an already great sounding £890 music player? Not really for me. However, as often happens when we decide to be on 'the look out', a few weeks later a demo version was advertised for £100. (This is when the Naim upgrade virus kicks in and tells you how paying £100 for a bit of wire is such a bargain!)
Over the past couple of months I have been trying to think of ways that would describe the sound changes. At first I thought I had made a mistake, yes, there was more detail, more treble, more bass, but was it actually better music wise? I had assumed that as it was a ex-demo lead, it would have been fully run-in. Wrong! the sound got better over the next couple of weeks.
The initial slight irritation that the sound was better, hi-fi wise, but not musically, disappeared. The best way I can describe the improvement is to say that the Muso sounds like a slightly bigger version of the Muso. All the positive Naim musical attributes that I liked about the sound are there, but the sound is just easier and even less strained. The same as adding a better Naim power supply? No-way. The recent experience I have of this is changing to a DR version of the Hi-Cap in my main system (102/250.2). But I'd say it's around 20% of such an improvement in the context of the Muso sound, so worth a try.
Best wishes Amer
