Anyone connecting their V1 or nDAC to a PC?

I have a "CAPS" HTPC that I output via USB to my current DAC.

I am just curious as to whether anyone is running straight PC > NAIM DAC, either the V1 or nDAC. The V1 is more or less designed to do this. I am a little more curious as to how nDAC owners may be doing this. Thanks.

I have been feeding the nDAC (for one of its inputs) via a Wireworld Supernova 7 optical cable (10 ft long) from the optical SPDIF output of a Mac Mini.  It sounds very nice, but is limited to 96 KHz and will not do Integer mode in Audievana +.  I soon plan to try a USB to SPDIF interface to address these issues (there is a thread on this subject in the Streaming Audio forum).

Win 7 32bit/64bit  PCs/J River MC v19>USB and/or mobo/DAL s'card SPDIF coax>DAC-V1. I switch to the Chord Hugo (fed through the UpTone USB Regen or SPDIF coax, as a preference when intent on classical orchestral music). The DAC-V1 is the choice for everything else. It all works well. DAC-V1 has become very addictive after the latest firmware upgrade!

Agreed with Brilliant re SQ of the V1.

The V1 has a amazing intergration of Audiphilleo's USB and SPDIF converters and digital pre amp.

Re the NDAC, this thread (which I think Charlie P is referring to) gives an insight - https://forums.naimaudio.com/to...90#51267011511271190

I have a Mac mini into V1 via USB playing AIFF files in Amarra 3 cache for a headphone system. What do you want to know?

I have my nDAC connected to PC through Teddy's U2S USB to S/PDIF converter. I have been using USB as my main connection method since the first USB to S/PDIF converters started to emerge. M2Tech HiFace was one of the first, if not the first one. I had to test it and It immediately improved from the previous method of using optical or coaxial output of studio sound card connected to PCI bus of motherboard. I think I had ESI Juli@ sound card back then and upgraded to HiFace first. After that I've tried many different USB interfaces like few Audio GD offerings, M2Tech HiFace 2, Musical Fidelity V-Link and Stello U3. I always upgraded if I felt the interface improved from the previous one. The most recent upgrade was U2S which outperformed Stello U3. They have quite similar designs around the famous XMOS chip but U2S uses external PSU for powering things. I think that makes a huge difference in sound quality.

I haven't done any comparisons for over a year now since I've been very pleased with U2S performance. I think there's a new XMOS chip released some time ago? If I'd be looking for a new converter at the moment, Gustard U12 would be my first try. It uses the new XMOS chip. Very low price for what you get. Only drawback is that it has no BNC-output.

I use a dedicated Windows 7 PC and DAC-V1 as my main source.  DAC-V1 is fed by USB from the PC, and I use fixed output (line-out) to SN2.  The PC, or Songbird as I prefer to call it (PC implies annoying thing used in an office), has been as reliable as any other hifi component I've ever owned, and combined with the DAC-V1, also sounds better than any other hifi component I've ever owned.  And, as has been noted many times around the forum in the last week, the new firmware update does indeed lift the performance to new higher level.

Currently running MacBook Air with AmarraHifi through Audiophilleo+PurePower into nDac and I'm really happy with this setup.

USB cable from MacBook to Audiophilleo is Audioquest Carbon and I might be adding a Jitterbug maybe, although the improvement was rather subtile before new nDac Firmware and adding 555ps. Maybe now the Jitterbug will bring a greater improvement.

Nevertheless, I can strongly recommend Audiophilleo + Pure Power, the best connection between computer and dac I have ever heard.

Jitterbug was completely useless. No difference whatsoever. I sold mine after few weeks of use.
