Query re Super Lumina 4-pin DIN to 4-pin DIN interconnect

Posted by: Mike Kent on 13 December 2015

I have recently changed my NACA5 speaker cable and 555-552 interconnect to Super Lumina. Expensive, but extremely worthwhile. I am now considering adding the Super Lumina 4-pin DIN to 4-pin DIN interconnect to my system. Am I correct in thinking this will go between the 552's power supply, and the Supercap that's powering the Snaxo 242?

Yes.

It is very worthwhile.

Well Mike, you do know that the SL Interconnects were designed for Statement, but Naim say's that the 500, and even Classic Series can benefit from this SL Technology.  Looked at your Profile, Nice System, I'm sure you can benefit from this Technology.  Mind you I never heard any Naim System above the 252/300 Classic Series, so I'm guess I'm one of many Armchair Quarterbacks.
However, A couple days ago I got a chance to listen to the following System:

555PS x 2 / NDS / S1 Pre / S1 Mono Blocks
Full Loom / Powerlines / Vivid GTA 3

Wow! I was expecting to hear Naim 500 series for the first time. To my surprise, David Michael Audio
( Royal Oak, MI ) had the above System in tack!

But that experience, is a post in itself!

Well, I know the info. that you are looking for, but who want's to listen to an Armchair QB, so here it is from DB:

"" Allante93, That is right.

For Passive full-loom SL cables you require, in the order stated I would suggest:

1. SL IC Source to Pre

2. SL Speaker Cables

3. SL DIN-XLR Pre to Power

For Active full-loom SL cables you require, in the order stated I would suggest:

1. SL IC Source to Pre

2. SL 4pin DIN-DIN Pre to Snaxo PS (usually Supercap)

3. SL Speaker Cables

4. SL DIN-XLR Pre to Power

That is what I found opened-out the system best and inter-worked with the remaining non-SL cables as I upgraded mine, bit by bit. This is just my opinion. I put the DIN-XLR last as although it will offer a lot when the SL speaker cable is present, I found it didn't like NAC A5 in my system and sounded a bit 'lumpy' - with the SL speaker cable it works well, so do it last.
