System Pics 2016
Posted by: hungryhalibut on 15 December 2015
It's that time of year again, so welcome to System Pics 2016. Let's hope it's a happy and healthy year for everyone.
Here's are a couple of pictures of my stuff to get us started: with the exception of a Powerline everything is changed since this time last year, even the carpet and paintwork.

Thanks Blownaway. They are still running in but I am very pleased with the sound so far and even happier that they will eventually sound even better once the drive units have lost their stiffness. They replaced a pair that I had made about 17 years ago which SWMBO found too big for the room. These are approximately 30 mm shorter but further out from the wall as they lean backwards which has caused a few raised eyebrows and some pointed comments!
Gavin,
I experimented with several different Vicoustic panels on the back wall. I preferred the wave-wood panels as they both absorb and diffuse. Bass traps in the corner also made an appreciable difference and are a good place to start as you can move them around easily. Vicoustic can analyze your room for a small fee.
I was always skeptical of acoustic treatments, but I am a big believer now. Even a very modest installation like mine makes for an enormous improvement in sound.
Very nice Adam :-) Re. Where to put a PSU.. Ditch the CD-player.. Voila! ![]()

That looks very smart indeed. What's that box with the blue light?
It's my Rotel AV receiver.

Neat and stylish. You use isolation platforms, who makes them?

I love the careful colour co-ordination, Flettster. Very nice.

Strange enough I still like spinning my silver discs. Although both the NDX and CDX2.2 run through the nDAC, they do sound different. It's not a massive difference, but it's there...
Will come up with something....

Hi Frenchnaim - it's tampered glas, cut to the same size and thicknes as a Fraim glass shelves. Custom-made for me by a chap outside Warsaw, who's been making AV stands for years. He is well regarded in Poland. The best thing is cost - EUR 25 per shelf
Each shelf rest on 3 VibraPod dampers.

Gorgeous system Adam. Looks to have a high SAF, in the 9+ range.
Indeed - approved by the Management. My very patient wife even auditioned several turntables with me before we chose LP12. We both fell in love with the sound of it....
Tonight we're going to party like it's 1989.....

Awesome Martin!
That is a serious looking and impressive tower you've got there, Martin.
