System Pics 2016

Posted by: hungryhalibut on 15 December 2015

It's that time of year again, so welcome to System Pics 2016. Let's hope it's a happy and healthy year for everyone.

Here's are a couple of pictures of my stuff to get us started: with the exception of a Powerline everything is changed since this time last year, even the carpet and paintwork.

Thanks for the comments -

@Ken - Rug M&S i think. Bought quite a while ago now but it's lasting well.

@Dan - The Melco is proving to be rather good. Still not fully loaded with music yet and my system is sounding better than ever with this fronting it (via USB). Well worth a demo.

Thanks James. Yes S-400 plus a few new bits and bobs (all of which I'm very pleased with) over Christmas.

Stunning looking system! My dealer was only saying yesterday how good he thinks your Neats are with Naim kit. I take it you love them? I'm looking to upgrade my motive 1's with a 250DR on the way too...

I used a 250.2 with these momentum 4's for 5 years and was very happy, the 300 has added more of everything but I would think the DR'd 250 will will be an amazing match. I can't imagine wanting to change these speakers

Not much different for 2016 although this year may see a change of speakers. A Melco N1A has replaced my Mac as the main source. I'm still not completely Naimless - i've got Fraim Chips under all my spikes

Looks fantastic.  If you get a chance, home dem some Twenty.26s

Main system ... Not the final position, but works for now ...

Nice speakers - they look so much more domestically acceptable with the grilles on, but its unusual to see pictures of them like that.

Fantastic looking room, system and music selection there John.

Do you still browse your CD booklets when streaming the music?

Thanks  - yes bigger PMC's will be on my list. I need speakers that work within 12in of the back wall which somewhat limits choice. The GB1's are great and work very well in my room but are the bottleneck in my system now. We'll see...

Looks great, lovely looking room / set-up!

What rack is that?  I've been looking for one with a bit of style; showing the misses this one (with ornaments etc on it) may be just what I need to convince her!

Just checking the ones I have on dem, they're 34cms on the outer corner and 30cms from the wall on the inner corner.  This is measuring at the top, so the bases are a good bit further forward than that of course.  This is in my 19ft x 12ft room facing down the length so yours will be different of course.  I got them to the best position in the room and then applied SPACE to them which you won't have the luxury of.  The  SPACE algorithm did a decent job with only fairly minor tweaks to the depth of the notches required.

In initial positioning, I found I could move them about quite large distances and only get a small change in sound so they seem less dependent than many other speakers.

I know this has been asked before but I cant find the answer.  Could someone please tell me the simplest way to get a photo from my iPAD onto the forum??

Posted on: 18 January 2016 by John Burrow

Thank you, yes I do still look through the CD booklets occasionally but the app does such a good job with info, also with moody lighting it's a lot easier on the iPad.

Sounds good - thanks for the info. I'll be interested in how you get on with your Demo

Thanks Richy - Isoblue. Works well for me as it allows easy disassembly / reassembly for cleaning, hides the wiring (whilst still allowing cables to be dressed correctly) and can be added to easily for system growth

^^^^^.... or system shrinkage !

Posted on: 18 January 2016 by John Burrow

Isoblue really is a beautiful solution, it has a great affect on the sound, it's elegant and easy to get around.
