It's that time of year again, so welcome to System Pics 2016. Let's hope it's a happy and healthy year for everyone.
Here's are a couple of pictures of my stuff to get us started: with the exception of a Powerline everything is changed since this time last year, even the carpet and paintwork.
I agree with Max - I currently have mahogany speakers in my primary system but the maple finishes are always what I prefer, but buying demo/second hand doesn't always permit veneer selection!

Life is a bitch sometimes

Indeed it can be - I am battling a kidney stone right now so it is one of those truly "bitch" times - far worse than any speaker veneer...

I know that feeling well ... for a long time had mismatched B&W CDM series main left and right and centre different coloured.
What was worse was when buying my 20.23s the dealer had described them as the wrong colour. In the end I decided to buy them anyway but would have preferred them in walnut rather than the amarone colour (though ironically they now match my B&W centre in colour)

I don't know what I did wrong, but I apologize to Richard if mine and George's mini detour in renal calculi was offensive...

Mark, not sure why you're apologising. I'm fine with you mentioning your Kidney stone. I just hope it passes quickly.

Because several posts (2 or 3) were deleted - George and I had exchanged 2 and they are gone.

What is that thing on the pedestal in the foreground/centre of the room?
Posted on: 04 February 2016 by DrMark
That's a good question Winky - I just assumed it was a projection TV but now that I actually pay attention there already is a TV, so I must have been incorrect...

Looks like a projector to me... I assume there must be a drop down screen...

That's the main bridge console, eye captain, engage and all that

As in the world's biggest remote? (Well it looks pretty big in the picture - as in at least 18" wide or even 2 feet.)

Almost as big as the remote supplied by a certain Cambridge based manufacturer who favours digitally connected speakers...

They weren't removed at this end.

It's got component video inputs - luxury for a remote..

Guys, that's a borrowed Benq W1070 video projector on a custom stand. And yes, there's also a drop down screen. I'll walk the oled path I'm afraid, the projectors are not where I was hoping they would be yet.

Why apologise? It doesn't look a bad system at all...

A lovely active NBL set you have there Camlan.
John.

Thanks John, the end of a 30 year plus journey. The only thing that worries me now is if something happened to the NBLs because there is not a lot of other active speaker choice these days, apart from Ovatars of course. I have been seriously contemplating buying another pair for spares as there have been a couple of pairs on the auction sites of late which have gone for very reasonable money. We'll see.

What is the turntable, Camlan?
Nice NBLs too. Cherry?

Pertinent info in Camlan's profile, Clive.
Yes; Camlan - Ovators are a very different kettle of fish. DBL's have some great sonic qualities of course, but the WAF is low. The elegance of the NBL takes some beating.
I think an SL3 could have been a stonker.
Enjoy.
John.
