System Pics 2016
Posted by: hungryhalibut on 15 December 2015
It's that time of year again, so welcome to System Pics 2016. Let's hope it's a happy and healthy year for everyone.
Here's are a couple of pictures of my stuff to get us started: with the exception of a Powerline everything is changed since this time last year, even the carpet and paintwork.

appreciate your reply.
I have liked the business like but squarish shape of the Totem Model One Signature edition..
I heard it once with a marantz and i know the amp was having a hard time to provide the speaker with enough juice. These need quality amp;lification.
Maybe someday.... i will have try the Totem Model 1 Signature ( after i have retired my Merlin TSM )
Actually there are a few others like the Reference De capo , ATC SCM 11 on my wish list... as well so maybe rotate them for 4 years each
ha ha ha...
regards
Hey, my dealer have a pair in black ash with stands for £ 1370.
So next time you are in Stockholm..........
Thanks Gunnar !

Yetizone posted:Nice system Nic - refreshing to see KFE LS50's in white for a change :-) and, just curious how do they perform close to the wall with the rear port?
Yeah really preferred the white over those so called limited colours lol. Good eyes yeah it's a problem having them so near the back wall. Lack of base and that's the reason I had this little Cambridge cube woofer.
I wonder why I can only see one pic on the last 6 pages and all the rest are just blank white squares. boooo

Thanks for the reply Richard, I just tried copying an image location and pasting it into a browser, it looks like my workplace blocked photobucket! booo on them!
A detail of my second system: my custom made metal "cat proof" speaker grills. There are not many informations on the web about speakers protection from nasty pets (like Neve, who posed in the picture), so I thought it might be interesting for someone.
I've known a few pure white cats to be born deaf.
Perhaps Neve is too?..
and feeling the beat with her paws on the speaker grilles : )
Debs

A dog’s breakfast system, but it sounds rather nice feeding an ESL.

Picture taken before re-instating my Persian carpet. And proper little back foot back in place rather than some books!

Fortunately she is not deaf ![]()
She (and some of the other cats that lives in my house) liked to scratch the cloth grilles of my previous speakers.
George - I thought you got rid of the ESLs? Happy for you if you didn't.
Dear Mark,
Fate decreed a failed sale, thanks be ...
Their return makes me more than ever grateful that such a speaker was ever made!

Well good - as I said I am happy for you. You without ESLs is one step from the sun rising in the west! ![]()
So long as the sun rises in the East, I’ll have ESLs!

No changes since last years addition the IKEA AV unit & the plant. The plant has changed though, there's a lot less of it. Need green fingered advice...
House plants are strange! Sometimes the best thing is simply to get another!

So here's my current setup, picture taken today. Since last photo, I've spiked the AV-rack (Norstone Esse), bought a new power distributor block (Wireworld Matrix v2) and got rid of Playstation 3. Also bought a five meter power cord for TV to plug it in separate power distributor and wall socket. Oh and the TV is new also. I use PC as my source which is not pictured but it's next to my desktop left side of the setup.
My rig has never sounded this good. I had plenty of time this weekend to just listen and I think I've put up a record hours on.
Sorry for the crappy lighting of the picture, I guess iPhone 6S isn't that great after all or then I'm just not a very good shooter.
Rackkit - I once had that same (or very similar) kind of plant, and it did great for a couple of years. Then for some unknown reason, it began to die and anything I tried was futile. Hope you have better luck.

cRackkit,
The plant looks like a triple planted Dracaena marginata in a Lachuza pot. Lachuza pots usually come with a water retention system. Dracaenas don't like too much water. Don't water the top of the soil, always from the bottom or away from the root ball. The pots watering system will aid this. They also prefer a reasonably sunny position, otherwise they will gradually deteriorate. Occasionally place in a sunny spot for a period if normally kept in shade.
After retiring I worked part time for a company that used to supply/rent, maintain these and other plants to offices, hospitals, schools etc.
Thanks

That was my original idea George. They're cheap enough to replace but wouldn't mind learning to look after them properly!

Hi Graham. I think it's just a basic pot from IKEA from memory. Read about the sunlight issue as well as over watering them.
Will replace this one and try again with the above advice!
Cheers,
Rack.
Changed the configuration a few months back but wasn't happy with the way it sounded. This set up has been in place for over a month now and is absolutely rocking! Now just waiting for the 300 to be called up for its DR conversion, followed by the upgrade to SL speaker cables in the summer and that should be it - the end of a 25 year journey......until the next time!
Cheers,
Ian
