System Pics 2016
Posted by: hungryhalibut on 15 December 2015
It's that time of year again, so welcome to System Pics 2016. Let's hope it's a happy and healthy year for everyone.
Here's are a couple of pictures of my stuff to get us started: with the exception of a Powerline everything is changed since this time last year, even the carpet and paintwork.

I've never heard 400s but they certainly look classy.

Mike - they suond quite unlike any other speaker I've heard (truth be told I have not had a pleasure of hearing other NAIM speakers). I get this uncanny feeling as if I was sitting in a recording studio, in front of a mixing console (I actually did participate in mixing my band's album...

Then you must be thoroughly enjoying yourself, Adam. And that's what this passion is all about. Well done!

Lovely indeed Adam !

Don' t remember your finish, Zebrano or Black Ash ?

Ok, very nice, lovely furniture too.

Thank you Roberto - I must admit I'm partial to Cassinas's Maestri Collection ![]()
Resorted back to a simpler system, kept the UQ 192, NACA5 and Michell Gyrodec SE the rest now sold including my Allaes and parting with the Allaes was the hardest part having owned them for 12 years but the AE301 sound great and the UQ drives them with ease.
UQ on its own just rocks ![]()

Very interesting shelf Hifiman. Do the AE's play well that close to the rear wall?I have a UQ in our summer beach house and need a speaker that sits near a rear wall. Thanks for the input...
ATB,
Mark
That is one badass looking TT as well! (Definitely not a red RP6...)

Hi Mark, it's the main reason I opted for the 301 for the front facing port, tried them several inches further out and they sound just the same as their current position. I would give them an audition and go from there.
Lovely looking system, but are the speakers toed out?
Keith
I see what you mean Keith must be the camera playing tricks as they are firing straight ahead
Adam Zielinski posted:Hungryhalibut posted:All this Ovator love: before it was announced they were for the chop there was very little mention of them. As Joni would have said...... You don't know what you've got till it's gone.
I've always thought they look lovely, and on occasions have been tempted to try them, but no.
I actually got mine about two months ago - before the annoucement. They've finally settled down - took ages to run in.
Got mine in December and even though they were Ex demo, still took and age to come on song. I posted a thread that charted the journey, frustrating that it was. I was in Ortons ( my dealer) and we talked about how hard they are to sell because of just how long they take to run in. Mine are 2 years old but had only had a few hours use. Path of least resistance works against them for sure.
Why can't I take one decent picture of my system?
Why, indeed.
Hifiman
Really like your system. A knockout!
Hello from Canada again, Naim folks. I have not been around much on the forum but still getting some updates here and there. I recently borrowed my friend's fish eye lense to capture my hifi system. Just to share some of them....here. Enjoy the music folks. These days, my system is NDX, SN2, Harbeth C7 and ClearAudio Solution turntable.

It sure does, HIFIMAN, and what a wonderful looking system you've got!
I'm also enjoying my UnitiQute for about 6 weeks now and I'm totally happy with it.
Actually, I'm a little surprised how well it drives my (85db) Penaudio Rebels. To me it's a wonderful match.
Even at modest, late night volume levels it's very easy to enjoy and follow the music.
Despite my negative experience with Naim streaming in the last few years, the little Qute has been working flawless from day one.

Wow ! Do you mean the famous Cassina of Meda ? as you will know , it's one of the most famous Italian makers o fluxury furniture, along with companies like Flexform
and B &B Italia. The latter was formerly called C & B, Cassina & Busnelli I hope in the future to get a new sofa (B & B or Flexform) for my system room.
Happy Easter

Is this the second or third UQ you have tried/owned
you keep returning !
I know you are a big Nait 2 fan how does the UQ stack up against such an iconic amp, I was tempted to track one down especially the CB version but they go for silly money.
In terms of UQ driving speakers the AE301 recommend a minimum of 25 watt amp and the UQ is only 30 watts but no issues at all, UQ drives them with ease must be that Naim grip and control.
Anyway, going on an Easter egg hunt with the wife and kids at Burton Agnus hall, great fun did it last year.
I sold my UQ2 to replace it with a CB Nait 2 (I had previously sold my serviced CB Nait 2 to purchase the UQ1 and then went to a SU....). The Nait 2 is a of the most engaging amplifiers that I have ever owned in terms of its musicality. It will get your feet tapping. It has soul. My 'new' CB Nait 2 has now been serviced by Class A and is just wonderful.
Another reason I had for returning to the Nait 2 is that I can now choose my own streaming option so as technology moves on I can just change the 'front end'. Current front end is the wonderful AURALiC Aries Mini. The Nait drives some Guru Juniors by the way.
You will just have to get a Nait 2 Hifiman and see what the fuss is about. As regards the cost, the price is not going to go down and if you don't like it you can just sell it. just have a limit that you are happy with.
