System Pics 2016

Posted by: hungryhalibut on 15 December 2015

It's that time of year again, so welcome to System Pics 2016. Let's hope it's a happy and healthy year for everyone.

Here's are a couple of pictures of my stuff to get us started: with the exception of a Powerline everything is changed since this time last year, even the carpet and paintwork.

Nah, you though the speakers were being used as headphones, like a pair of Jecklin Floats. Fess up!

Hi Roberto,

I like the room very much, but I can't see the kit on the racks. Also, your profile says you have a Fraim?

Hi Keith,

This is my second system sitting on venerable Audiotech tables dating from late ' 80s. It includes Rega P3, and old Sony dvd and Nait XS/ stageline,

Sooner or later  i' d like toupgrade the digital source with HDX.

Fraims are in another room for the main system

.. and on voyeuristic point of view

Regards

Roberto

RSCH- To have Ovator 400s in a second system is similar to drinking a casual Gaja Barolo whilst you are cooking, instead of Lafite Rothschild!

What a lovely second system, bet it boogies in the rather unusual acoustics the room must have, it being so asymmetrical.

HI K. Cat,

Yes  this room it's actually very good even without any sort of acoustic treatment, really better than the smaller one downstairs with the  bigger system.

May be one day i' ll revert the situation moving our bedroom  over there.

Regards

Roberto

But of course - good wine is important I also enjoy my second system with S-400s and and some Rioja Gran Reserva

Yes Adam, some Burn Cottage Pinot Noir from Central Otago going down quite well with some New Order here. Must not drink too much over the weekend otherwise it may be a "Blue Monday"!

It's more like sake for me tonight - currently in Tokyo until Sunday.

Bet the window cleaners are thinking this is some sort of "Six million dollar man " type of life support installation

Beautiful photo's of 500 series rear ends. I usually have to visit other forums, to get that sort of view

All coming together nicely. It seems the Statement do undergo high changes with further break-in. No more headaches (see old thread) even with the power factor correction devices in place. The V2 update of the Vivaldi DAC was a revelation. Pretty happy camper at the moment.

Very Impressive !

Your separate Statement stacks look quite better than usual close together combo. Dcs looks magnificent too!

Didn't  you consider an alternative Louspeaker like Naim S800 or Vivid G1 ?

@MDFdude  Wow!  Stratospheric system!  Not sure about the acoustic properties of a rug stolen from MacDonald's though?

Posted on: 03 May 2016 by MDFdude

Well, believe it or not - I bought the Statement to match the ProAc Carbon 8. I have auditioned Vivid's G2 under show conditions & was quite impressed. However, given the state of oil price now, I am forced to adopt a year of inner reflection. I.e. no new purchases for now. However, I am now lusting after a Superline + Supercap combo to match the Thales chopstick arm with a Benz Micro LPS cart.

Not many choices for carpets as I live in the tropics but I do have diffusers at the first two reflection points as well as the back walls.

Tropics ?  ...that would be south of Watford then?

Seriously nice photo of some seriously nice audio equipment... shame about the lack of electric light but if I had to choose between powering the lighting or the audio kit I'd make the same choice as you have MDFDude

A wee bit more modest but sounding grrreat !!

Any chance of a full frontal shot ?     Teasing me with obscure angles, I need to look at the mantelpiece.

The fundamenta question is: does the UQ sound better when the fire is on? Or does it help with the initial burn-in period ?

Posted on: 04 May 2016 by Flo-TLSC

Adam nailed it. The fire was used to help the burn-in period.

It took about 10 minutes this way. The Qute is heating the fireplace now driving the OB1 i's  hehe  (",)

Posted on: 04 May 2016 by hungryhalibut

Well, I've never heard of a little Qute driving the OB1 before. And I do like the idea of playing the Road to Hell while sitting on the fire...

Posted on: 04 May 2016 by Flo-TLSC

The wee Qute makes these big Obi-Wan Kenobi's sing and dance Hungry Humble Halibut, believe it or not. The wee Qute just gets up and bogies and wants to play.

An amazing piece of NAIM. And I'll love it till I die, period ...

Oh and the PMC's are Fan Fawking Tastic !!
