System Pics 2016
Posted by: hungryhalibut on 15 December 2015
It's that time of year again, so welcome to System Pics 2016. Let's hope it's a happy and healthy year for everyone.
Here's are a couple of pictures of my stuff to get us started: with the exception of a Powerline everything is changed since this time last year, even the carpet and paintwork.

Thanks Joe. The Kore is a lovely upgrade for the standard LP12 sub-chassis, and apparently gets one a long way toward Keel-dom in performance terms.
The trick with the Aro is not to be afraid of it - it being a lot more manageable and durable than one initially imagines. I can pretty easily cue up the last track on the side of an LP if necessary.
It's a beautifully unique sounding tonearm for sure, and a shame that Naim have ceased production thereof.
John.
Jets or Giants, Joe?

Hi Ray -- I choose door #3: Mets!
hello, I am new in your forum. Your system with dcs is impressive!

Making measurement to mount the diffusers.
Took me 2 hours to mount them. However, the vertical patterns made me giddy after a while. So, ended up like this. More listening to gauge their effect later.
A little off topic, but I'm curious if you ever tried pointing the Proac Carbon speakers toward the listening position a few degrees? When I had Proac D28 speakers, they tended to sound much better with some toe in towards the main listening position.

Hello from Germany. Nice Setup. Have you a Full Front Foto with Booth Speakers?
My System 72/140/HC/Cd3.5

Thank you Novichok. I also like your system. That olive series Naim gear still looks quite special. It has a certain militairy look about it that I like.
Here's a recent picture that covers the system with both speakers:

Nice system. Speakers are not so dominant as mine, which I like. I assume you don't have an additional subwoofer, as I assume the foot is part of the speaker bass sound ?
Bert, they are simply Partington stands.
Alco, your systems and room always look lovely, and this is probably the best yet.

And there's Alco in shadowy outline, just like in a Hitchock film. What more could one want?
"I assume you don't have an additional subwoofer, as I assume the foot is part of the speaker bass sound ?"
Hi Bert, no I don't have an additional subwoofer. There's abviously not much bass coming out of those small cabinets, but it's just about enough for my taste. (and I'm not a subwoofer fan) Like Hungryhalibut said, they're just Partington (dreadnought) stands. I must say that the (heavier) old Target HR60 stands I used before gave the little Penaudio speakers slightly more body.
"Alco, your systems and room always look lovely, and this is probably the best yet."
Thanx HH.
Tbh, I'm still not that satisfied with how my system looks. Ok, I kinda like the looks of my Penaudio speakers and the Partington stand matches them well. (it's hard to find a pair of decent, good looking stands for 'em, as they're extremely narrow and deep.
I'm not that fund about the oak cabinet though. I don't like the open gap underneath the UQ. (only put the plaid in to fill it up a little)
Also, I'm not happy with the wall decoration... Looks a bit cheap. (and it was!) Still looking for a nice canvas painting to go there.
"And there's Alco in shadowy outline, just like in a Hitchock film. What more could one want ?"
Hahaha! Well, trust me HH...my shadow looks better than the real thing.

Aha,...I wonder, how can you see when a UQ1 is a 24/96 or a 24/192 model ?
"which speakers are those? Acoustc Energy ?"
My speakers are the Rebels, from Finnish manufacturer Penaudio. (in light-oak)

1. I have Quti1 with Streamer Board Upgrade from Germany dealer. My second System is Unitiqute with Nubert Nuline NL-24 Germany Factory Boxes.
Bit of a squeeze but it will do for now. Sounding pretty good even so.

Nice to see a room that isn't anally organized.

Just converted the back bedroom into a small office space. Seeing as the B&W were up here being unloved anyway I thought I would recruit some old equipment and get a little system together.
IMac or Macbook Pro into Cambridge Audio 640A V2 via 3.5mm to phono which is acting as pre amp to a Warrior Audio DA1000 power amp. Speakers are B&W DM602S3. I have the power amp set to 1.44v sensitivity so that the volume pot has a bit more modulation.
I have to say that whilst it falls so far behind the main system that its not worth mentioning, it sounds bloody brilliant. The near field effect is quite different but its fun too.

Nice speckers!!
I lost them in a fire :-( They sound really nice!

Late to post, mainly because my system has been changing all year but here is mine; the SN2 and the Hugo survive but pretty much everything else is new(ish). Rega RP8, Alpheta 2, Stageline, Mac Mini/Audirvana, Hugo, USB Regen and Jitterbug, NAT05 XS, Supernait 2, Hicap DR, Focal Aria 926, TQ Black speaker and interconnect, Chord Anthem Reference interconnect, Meze Classic 99 Headphones. I'm very happy where I am now and apart from a set of power lines I don't see this changing for some time.
