System Pics 2016

It's that time of year again, so welcome to System Pics 2016. Let's hope it's a happy and healthy year for everyone.

Here's are a couple of pictures of my stuff to get us started: with the exception of a Powerline everything is changed since this time last year, even the carpet and paintwork.

Late to post, mainly because my system has been changing all year but here is mine; the SN2 and the Hugo survive but pretty much everything else is new(ish).  Rega RP8, Alpheta 2, Stageline, Mac Mini/Audirvana, Hugo, USB Regen and Jitterbug, NAT05 XS, Supernait 2, Hicap DR, Focal Aria 926, TQ Black speaker and interconnect, Chord Anthem Reference interconnect, Meze Classic 99 Headphones. I'm very happy where I am now and apart from a set of power lines I don't see this changing for some time.

Looks good, David. Especially those Arias.

Nice looking turntable and neat looking system.

Ammazed you've got vinyl, FM and digital front ends with such a low box count.

Thanks guys.  It has been luck Fatcat as much as anything but I have stumbled onto a system that works really well for me and that allows me to play with three different sources that all sound really good to my ear.  Vinyl didn't even cross my mind when I started off but I'm glad I added it now.

Hi Dayjay,

You touch upon an underrated component of system building - luck.

Some strive for years to get their hi-fi to sound like the ideal system they can hear in their heads, while others stumble upon a combination that works for their ears and taste in their room.

Careful choices and, great dealers and home demos are fundamentally important, but you can't test everything.

It looks like you've cracked it. Very nice system.

I frequently move my system around but it pretty much looks like this now (note I have repositioned the HC and Nac to inside the cabinet in pics 2 & 3)!

I use a UQ2 and Sondek as sources, a Nap 100 through some SBL's, and the HC and Nac 32.5 as power and pre accordingly.  The sound is goddamn awesome, not to mention the looks

@ LEWIS, Lovely system, beautifully presented. I like the use of cross ply with the exposed edges for the mini half case width shelves. I'm currently in the middle of building a home made rack with cross ply and also leaving the edges exposed, but highly finished.

Love your system, Lewis.

Love the continuity of the LP12 plinth and the cabinet it's sat on....understated stylish elegance.Realy love your CB stuff. The 32 with the green light is a beautiful piece of design.Great pics and a lovely room.

Thanks guys, appreciate the kind words

I do think the CB is my favourite of all Naim.  I just love it.  I think I have the perfect combo of old and new.  Convenience of operating the UQ via the app and the old skool cool of the CB amplification and Hi-Cap

Also love your LP 12.Good to see your using an Ittok.30 years on I am still using my LP12 with an Ittok and  Decca London Supergold cartridges.I still think the Ittok is a great bit of engineering.I know it's bettered buy alot of arms now but it's still very capable.Back in the flat earth days a LP 12 Ittok Asak T  was the UK's  finest.I think the States had Rockport and Oracle.

Posted on: 10 June 2016 by hungryhalibut

The bottom two shelves appear to be the wrong way, and you should swap them.

Posted on: 10 June 2016 by Emre

Now better A XPS or 555PS to be added next year......  i love the sound and the ninja look

A few pics:

The chopping boards raise the tweeters on the Focals to the same height as the Audio Physic centre, and enable me to play with positioning as I continue to play with the setup for these new speakers. Got the hair dryer out yesterday to shape the NAC A5.

The NS01 s-video output played via my Oppo 105D to the TV.

More NAC A5 for burying into the wall in the not too distant future! Focal Dome rears, and an MJ Acoustic sub behind the chair on the left.

The shower unit contains the electronics.
