System Pics 2016
Posted by: hungryhalibut on 15 December 2015
It's that time of year again, so welcome to System Pics 2016. Let's hope it's a happy and healthy year for everyone.
Here's are a couple of pictures of my stuff to get us started: with the exception of a Powerline everything is changed since this time last year, even the carpet and paintwork.

interesting mix is an understatement I suppose but it took me a long long time to find what I liked n even more importantly to put it together ...... ![]()

At the risk of sounding silly, with a place like that I wouldn't need any music.

Massimo: Not silly at all .. in fact we are so enamored with our surroundings that we haven't been playing any music at all until after dark when there's very little to see and even then the music has competition with the loons, seals, coyotes and other wildlife. We're in a very small community called East Berlin (and yes, you have to go through West Berlin to get here) on the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia. Truly stunning.

I wish I had taken a photo for this thread; but when I visited glassmaker John Ditchfield recently he had in his workshop a wallmounted set of old Quad 33/303s, plus a bunch of old valve equipment, absolutely covered in dust, playing through a pair of old Quad electrostatics hung from the ceiling. Your system is a model of neatness in comparison...

Roy posted:sorry just saw the queries. to HH - yes remedy for neatness I suppose is but room constraints (bedroom) are such that I need to stack the racks. I realize the placement of the linn is not ideal but I can't do much about it atm. I am toying with the idea of possibly devoting a spare room into a music room but it was only recently vacated and need to save first.
to hafler - width wise approximately 12 ft and yeah the neats are not equidistant from the rack. the room is definitely not ideal obviously. windows down one side behind in a room about 12ft by 18 with nooks here and there.
one other thing I saw that struck me was a lot of people have all-naim systems and not s many have a strange hodge-podge of stuff like me. maybe that adds to the neatness (or lack thereof in my case). thanks
Is there a wall just to the left of the rack? Perhaps an eye-level wall shelf for the LP12?
none i'm afraid but thanks

I just received this beauty from a French gentleman and fellow Naim owner, like a gift for a deal we had recently.
i just sold him my CD555 head (2010) and took another one of 2013 vintage from the same retailer who sold me the Nap 500 , he was so happy for the deal that in occasion of a mail exchange, when i showed interest on his CB boxes he had for sale, he decided to send me this for free.
It's a very very nice condition 42.5 from 1985, originally fitted with "K" phono boards (an evil feature reminding me LP12 Troika/Archive days) he was probably still the first owner since 1986 and came in his orignal box and Naim brochure. i just placed here on display after a bit of detailing (the aluminium sleeve is as new) I' ll probably move it on my second system., i already have period Audiotech tables for it and i 'll probably match it with Nap 110 or 140 like my very first Naim Kit
Regards
Roberto

A slight change from me. Moved the units to a book case. They are both sitting on granite plinths. I had to get a longer A5 speaker cable to keep the speakers in the same place. The sound has improved vastly. The pictures are off a phone

Quite a neat solution
Glass is also a good alternative (for the future reference).
What are you resting the granite plinths on?

Thanks.
The plinths were custom made at 45x35 and I found them on Ebay were they were used with a NAIM set up, they cost me £75 for 3. They sit on 6 sorbothane cups.
That's something like where I've got to - more separation between components, and after some experimentation with dome nuts etc, toughened glass on sorbothane under my 172. One day I'll get around to experimenting with something similar under the 250 as well.
Glad it's worked for you, and you feel there's a worthwhile improvement. What A5 lengths did you go to/from? I'm a bit limited at the moment, but when I eventually move and have a but more space, I'll prob try going from 3.5m to 5-6.

I went from 3.5 to 5 for the A5
There's something new in this picture.

Socks?
Bird sculpture?
Feet X 4? ..............................or, Vodka ethernet cable?

The hole in the sock has been darned....?
Aah, togetherness.
Wife/partrner? I very much hope your recovery is going well
Rather than prolong the guessing - it's my new and extremely naff moccasins, which I bought from a shop called Lambland in Devon. What a great name for a company that makes slippers with woolly linings! Since getting a stone floor in the kitchen my feet have been bloody freezing.
Anyway, I'm hoping that this might reinvigorate system pics with some more feet shots.

Not too bad, and thanks for asking. Hilary is very long suffering; it was our 30th wedding anniversary this year. She deserves a medal.
no fluffy slippers required here....![]()
