System Pics 2016
Posted by: hungryhalibut on 15 December 2015
It's that time of year again, so welcome to System Pics 2016. Let's hope it's a happy and healthy year for everyone.
Here's are a couple of pictures of my stuff to get us started: with the exception of a Powerline everything is changed since this time last year, even the carpet and paintwork.

ZHB - I beg to differ, I think your space has plenty of regard to interior design; the motif being "Middle-Aged Man Cave Cool".
Stunning looking system P. ![]()
@MONKADILL Isoblue unfortunately does not offer a white version, and to my eyes Isoblue looks a bit clumsy, although I like their approach. So I had a cabinet maker to create something similar

Does your cabinet maker still make them?

Yes: next step is to produce two more: 2 x white and 2 x black, these will go to my Naim dealers showroom, he would like to offer them, we would then produce them on request.
Moderated Post: P, please be mindful of forum rules. You mention "we would then produce them". You can mention the name of the dealer but only if you have absolutely no commercial interest here. If you do have a commercial interest then please refrain from discussing here, thanks.
p., Nice set. What about a Rega wallshelf for your record player?
Chris
P.S to the above. Or is it just an optical illusion?
@JAMES N Fraim Chips is a good idea - although I would prefer something smaller though, can you recommend any alternatives?
@CHRISTOPHER_M Maybe I will try a wall shelf in the future, but right now I don´t like to have anything on the walls for aesthetic reasons.
@SHEFFIELDGRAHAM An optical illusion, probably a bit supported by the very uneven floor that makes it nearly impossible to level out all three stacks at exactly the same hight.
The pictures attached better show the inclinations:
Thanks P.. The racks looks even better, particularly the way the tops have been profiled in sympathy with the supports.

Sweet! Would love to try this combo but no 272 to audition in my neck of the woods so will hang with the NDX/NDAC/282/HICAP/250 and enough cables to block the sun. Bamboo Q's look awesome.

Recent journey is over, so from Unitlite and Neat Motives Sx2's to N272, Nap200, XPSDR and S400's!
Need to consider my rack options later, looking for a IsoBlue or a White rack as the destination. Ikea Betsa is filling in for now.

What an extremely nice contrast: the white / black / grey colours and suddenly these Ovators.

OK, you now have a serious system and I would respectfully suggest you need a serious rack to get the best from it.
I will declare an interest here in that the only serious rack I have any experience of (and indeed own) is the full fat Fraim and I would thouroughly recommend it for your system. The main problem for you I would guess is that Fraim does not come in white (and possibly the cost of Fraim - I am not sure of your budget here). It does however come in all black which would at least fit your colour scheme of white/grey/black. I own a black Fraim and very smart it is too.
Good luck with your search.
Monkadill, looking good. I use a Besta myself, as the requirements of my current room mean I can't really go for a proper rack just yet. But as far as furniture that's not quite a proper rack goes, it's not the end of the world.
One small suggestion, especially when you get a proper rack (it looks like you've got a perfect space, once you find something you like) is to have the amp/PS on the right, and the NAC on the left. The transformers in the NAP and XPS are on the right of the cases as you look from the front, so at the moment the 272 is only about 6 inches from the one in whichever piece is on the bottom (200?). Having things the other way round would put a foot or more between the NAC and the transformer.
Just something to try, IIRC you were pleased with the difference a bit more vertical separation, and it's free to try some horizontal distance out too.
Hope you're happy with the way everything is settling in.
Cool seal Monkadill.
Good advice "Dave***T", i will shuffle the pack tonight. Your right "NigelLB", a rack is the next phase. I quite like the Custom design Milan. My budget is about £800 max.
Cheers "TheBigFredC", Clay cast pottery from Norfolk. Its quite unique.
Its all coming together now, thanks
I really like the look of the Custom Design Milan too. Seeing my dealer tomorrow who will do me a good price
I'd be looking at a more ambitious stand for equipment of the CDX2, 272, 250 calibre. Fraimlite, Isoblue, Hutter, Quadraspire SVT. Glass racks are usually best avoided, other than Fraim of course. Buy cheap, buy twice.
The Custom Design Milan was being used in the Kudos/Devialet/Audioquest room at the Indulgence Show. There's a nice picture on the Indulgence thread.

Time for some Mu-so Qb action... with flowers!
