System Pics 2016

Posted by: hungryhalibut on 15 December 2015

It's that time of year again, so welcome to System Pics 2016. Let's hope it's a happy and healthy year for everyone.

Here's are a couple of pictures of my stuff to get us started: with the exception of a Powerline everything is changed since this time last year, even the carpet and paintwork.

Hard times, Nigel. Who knows maybe one of these days I'll be able to afford a pair of socks and take some proper pics.

Tony,

Is your Reel to Reel a Revox B77 ?

Whats the longest recording you can get out of 1 spool of tape,I take it as running on 2 speeds ?

I am a bit of a cassette fan but always hankered after a Reel to Reel.

Hope all is well with you mate

Cheers Ian

Ian,

7 1/2 and 15ips. You get roughy 30 mins at 15ips and double that at 7 1/2ips. Recoding is on a par with vinyl depending on source of course. Hard to find original recordings at that speed and the re-releases from Tape Project are expensive new and extremely rare s/h.

I'm still looking for a replacement for my CR3 and i do miss it.

Hope all is well with you too.

Tony

Thanks for the picture Tony loved those spools  - gives it a bit of drama !

Are you still on the lookout for a replacement for your CR 3.I remember you where going to buy a 680 Z but the sale fell threw ?

A Sony Walkman professional might be a good buy.I have seen them on The Bay for £150 in good condition.Mine is still sounding ok after 30 years !  If you can get a mintish one I think you would be well pleased. If not it's got to be a Nak of maybe a Aiwa F770 or F990.

Cheers Ian

No Dragon here but I still have a functioning Walkman Pro which delighted my daughter when Guardians of the Galaxy was released. Awesome Mix Vol 1 was in the deck, on her chair for her birthday, recorded from the LP of the soundtrack. Awesome indeed!

If I knew how to post pictures, given my post about my recent theft, I'd post a pick of my empty rack.... I'm trying very hard to keep a sense of humour in all of this...

Beautiful, elegant. One of those rare shots that make HiFi look like a real part of domestic life.

Ma siamo sotto Natale, qualche regalo ci vuole :-) Ciao, Maurizio
