System Pics 2016

Posted by: hungryhalibut on 15 December 2015

It's that time of year again, so welcome to System Pics 2016. Let's hope it's a happy and healthy year for everyone.

Here's are a couple of pictures of my stuff to get us started: with the exception of a Powerline everything is changed since this time last year, even the carpet and paintwork.

Hi Massimo,

If you enlarge the photo a bit, it's possible to see that the boxes on the bottom of each 'stack' have power buttons - which means they must be the power supplies.

Neither the 300 amp box nor the 272 have power buttons as both need external PSs.

Cheers,

Ian

272 doesn't have a power button on the front, but it has an internal power supply (that you can replace with an XPS).......

Well, it was easy. And I have looked closely, and tried to enlarge the pic.. I must have left my brain at the Ikea.

Totally disqualified, I won't post for one year. Merry Christmas.

Request denied. Post at will.

So yes .. I've gone through a bit of an upgrade splurge and managed to smuggle this lot in without the other half noticing.

I assume that's a Woodsong Koa plinth on the LP12 there? You should post some pics of just that; it looks gorgeous!

My dealer uses Windolene (glass cleaner) to spruce up ex-demo or used kit before sale, so I'm wondering if the Pledge really is just for amusement, Jon ?  (or do you secretly use it on your black boxes to improve their photogenic qualities ?)

Graeme:

I do apologize, I was obviously joining dots that weren't there.

The movie, Brassed Off made in 1996 and starring Ron Postlethwaite as the leader/mentor/conductor of a colliery brass band.  A wonderful movie, deep anti-Thatcher sub text .. but wonderful music.  The brass band in the movie was the actual Grimethorpe colliery brass band.

Anyway, to make a long story really boring, there's a line in the movie where Danny, played by Ron Postlethwaite, says "It's all about the mewsic innit?" .. in a strong Yorkshire accent of course.

Probably more than you ever wanted to know .. the movie is well worth watching though.

Apologies again.

John.

It's Pete Postlethwaite  not Ron.

By the way Grimethorpe is the next village ( Cudworth :Michael Parkinson territory ) to where I was raised.

My brother and some of my school chums were members of the junior section.

By the way never heard a Yorkshire man use the phrase "innit" ; more likely "int it".

Pete was a Lancastrian by the way.

Agreed.

Put a human face on Maggies policies.

Perhaps we should stay on topic though. Apologies

This game is fun! The topic makes any of our hearts fill with wonder and sometimes a bit of jealousy...
I almost didn't dare sharing my modest set, but since we are all enthousiasts, I didn't feel like keeping my happiness to myself. So, there it is, the old and the new combined! UQ V1 / NACA5 / Quad ESL57

Apologies absolutely not necessary...I've seen the film so should have realised the reference.

Victoria Wood does a good skit on the theme too.

Best

Yes, and I saw that film. But for me Pete Postlethwaite is forever Kobayashi, Kayser Sose's lawyer.
