DFF files on USB stick

hello.

i have a question for Naim streamer owners that tried the DSD64 capabilities of their players.

does the player (NDX for example) decodes a DFF file with DSD64 encoding from a USB stick or HDD USB drive?

or the playback for those DFF files is only enabled via ethernet and a upnp server app?

thank you.

They should play from a USB stick. Officially, USB hard drives aren't supported by Naim streamers, although I seem to recall someone posting here that they had used one successfully. A NAS is probably best, as long as the UPnP server will play it. This will probably show metadata better than a USB device.

My 2TB USB 3.0 drive has always mounted, works fine on 272. Handy back-up.

I've played DSD (.dsf) OK from a USB,  but just to check something.  Normally I only play from NAS (HDD)

this is what i wanted to know, if the streamer allows decoding of DSD from USB input. as for HDD, i use lately only my 1TB Seagate HDD, into USB input, i am very (i mean very) against opening the laptop or PC for playing music, and i did not want to invest in a good quality NAS (better spend elsewhere)...

plus, i don't know in you case, but in mine, the Naim n-stream app moves very very badly when using the upnp input (at least with Foobar serving as upnp server). on the USB input, the app moves consistently better, even though i think this is one of the worst products Naim has ever released - a very poor app indeed! i understood that for Apple products is better, but i have an Andriod device, and i use it only because i'm too far from the Fraimlite to see what is shown on 172's display.

the reason i asked the opening question is that a want to make some relevant PCm vs DSD comparisons, and i wanted to know if i can also use the USB input in the streamers fro this comparison...

it seems they do, so thank you for you replies.
