Upgrade for SN2

Is it better to connect SuperCap to SN2 or HiCap is enough?
I haven't heard any combination but I know there are a lot of people happy with SN2/HCDR. I suspect money may be better spent elsewhere rather than putting a supercap on a SN2. I may be wrong though...
HCDR opens up the taps more on SN2, reveals more, more layers, a more openly rounded presentation. For me it is a fairly reasonable upgrade, add in Super Lumina and you get an excellent overall upgrade, but it does cost.
I've got a demo Hicap dr on my SN2 at the moment, it's a dealers demo but brand new and not run in and it's been running for two days. First impressions are, scale, solidity and especially bass definition is improved. Everything sounds just a little more solid, little more focussed and bigger. Not night and day but good enough that this one isn't going back to the dealers!

Nice one, dayjay. Give it four or five weeks and you'll be a very happy bunny.

I loved what the HCDR did for my SN2. From the moment I connected it and powered everything up my first perception was that the noise floor had dropped, bringing everything into greater relief. I would imagine the SCDR would take that to yet another level, but I haven't tried it myself. As Mayor West suggests, I don't think I could try a SCDR on the SN2 without wondering what a used set of separates would do for similar money.
I think that is what eventually did for me in the end, what separates could do.
In the context of a SN1- the SC2 was too much to my ears. Great dynamic swings but things sounded disjointed- the band was not playing together. Dropped in a HC2, all was better. The HC2 was the perfect partner as the FC2X was a bit of a bore in comparison.
The SN2 is a different beast by all accounts-I have not heard it. I suspect the same results may play out though. Best of luck , but I would stick with a HCDR in your shoes and save the cash for 282!

I've had an on/off relationship with the HCDR on my SN2. At present it's 'off' as I think the SN2 is more coherent 'naked'...I think.

The SN2 seems very complete as a standalone unit, and i've not been tempted to try a psu. When i had the NaitXS, i preferred it with a psu, and used a FC2X, HCDR and SC2 at different stages.
I like my 3 box set of CDS3, XPS2 and SN2, both visually and sonically.

My experience as well. I do have a HCDR I should connect somewhere in my currently naked system - SN2, CD5x, or Stageline - otherwise sell it.
Hmmm... Very interesting. As a recent (very happy) owner of a SN2 I feel the urge to test it with a HiCap.. Does it differ much between the "old" HiCap compared to the DR one?
I have to say so far, after only a couple of days, I'm loving what the hicap dr does to my sn2, just makes everything more solid and real. Very pleased so far and will almost certainly buy in early January
