Best wishes for 2016

Posted by: Bruce Woodhouse on 31 December 2015

Just to wish all a Happy New Year.

2015 will not be remembered too fondly here for various reasons. At home we also start 2016 with a bit of a challenge but hopefully that will be sorted in the first few months.

Compared to many in the UK, and abroad, our woes are minor. Our home is not waterlogged, we are not huddled in a derelict fishing boat trying to escape a civil war, and thankfully our burndies are intact and have all been delivered (sorry if that reference escapes you) so things could definitely be worse.

So good riddance 2015, and hope all the Forum members have a good 2016!

Bruce

Hi Bruce,

All the best for 2016.

when we encounter troubles in our lives you soon realise there are many people in much worse scenarios. This year I was left fighting for my life after a bad accident. When in hospital I saw some heart wrenching cases involving children. It soon brought my own troubles into perspective.

We are having flooding here in the Central US.  It will be a snag on the economy in Q1.  They are doing detours on the Interstate Highways.   We rarely see that, even in the peak Spring flood season.   Fortunately we live on the high ground as do most people.  Otherwise we are enjoying the cheap gas (under $2.00 for regular per gallon), the strong dollar (approaching parity with the Euro), and the mild but wet El Nino winter.  The snow pack in California is recovering.  And we will soon be exporting our ample crude oil supply to help the rest of the world out from under the thumbs of the Middle East despots and Mr. Putin.   And we can now count the days until Obama has moved on to his next project.  Where I live, we are relieved that he has seen his high water mark.

I personally wish we could welcome more of you wealthy, refined and productive Naim Forum members into the US and fewer of the motley cast of characters that seem to be coming into the US across our porous borders.

Happy New Year to all.
