Controlling CDX2 from Naim app?

Posted by: David Hendon on 03 January 2016

I have a NAC-N272 and I just acquired an ex-demo CDX2. Does anyone know whether it is possible to control (pause etc) the CDX2 from the Naim app via the 272? It looks from the manuals that I may be able to connect the system remote connectors on the 272 and the CDX2 with a 3.5 mm jack to jack lead, but before I randomly connect two expensive boxes together, I thought I should seek advice here.

I will go with a firm NO on that. The CDX2 is from an earlier generation of Naims. I think the Remote Connector is for linking to a Multi Room system, or similar...?

If the CDX2 has the little remote 3.5mm Jack on the back (from memory, and your description I'm sure it does) then you can connect them happily. Then just enable system automation on the 272 and you are away.

Yes the CDX2 can be controlled by the Naim App by using the automation signalling from your streamer such as NDX, 272 etc

The Naim app has a dedicated set of controls you can enable just for the Naim CD players including CDX2. Looks good.

Thanks everyone for the replies. It took a while for me to find a suitable lead (I knew I had a spare one somewhere!) but this morning I plugged it in, enabled system automation in the 272 setup and it all works fine.

That's good - nice to have it all working from the app.

Yes I have been trying to train SWMBO that everything in our multi-room setup can be adjusted (ie stopped, started and turned up or down more likely) from the Naim app on her phone, so the CDX2 threatened to be an unwelcome exception.
