Cancelling Tidal
Posted by: Blackthorn on 03 January 2016
How do I do this? I'm sure when I first installed it I saw an option somewhere within the Naim app, but I can't find it now.
I just cancelled the direct debit on my first trial - they got the message...
Hi Blackthorn,
I've just cancelled mine. You have to go to the Tidal website and log in to your account and then cancel your payment subscription. I found it easy to do and immediately received an email confirming that i had cancelled. There is a password reminder capability should you have forgotten what you set it to when you set up the subscription.
DWO
Mine was on PayPal so I can't cancel the direct debit.
And I tried via the Tidal website, but I can't remember what user name I set up never mind the password! I've tried both possible e-mail addresses, but in each case it says user not found.
Progress... I used a very old e-mail address that I didn't think I ever used anymore! I've now reset my password and cancelled successfully.
Thanks both for your help.
I will continue with TIDAL HI-FI. It costs in Czech Republic 330 CZK, with current exchange rate appr. 12 EUR.
I cancelled last night, thanks to reminders from the forum. I had to fill out a questionnaire as part of the process, and one of my suggestions was that they stop charging UK customers more than customers in other areas - e.g. apparently double what they charge in the Czech Republic. It's the internet, it's not like we won't find out.
I've been thinking about it, but have kept it for the next month at least. I do use it when I'm in the kitchen or study. I don't have a Muso in the kitchen, but just turn it up and leave the doors open. It is useful to search and try different things, but often I find that what I'm looking for isn't there. It also means I don't listen to or appreciate the records I have. So I'm still undecided, but will give it a bit longer before finally pulling the plug.
Cancelled too. Thanks for the reminder. Just in time before end of trial. Will continue to use Qobuz via Squeezebox Touch into NDS. Bit more faffy but better search and value.
Just cancelled mine after 3 month free trial. Not convinced by the quality of the sound vs my ripped CDs and downloads. Will continue with Google music for discovering new stuff.
I was happy with the sound quality although it did sound a " bit off" the other day.
Too many artists I have tried have not has all their albums available some only have a few tracks that were on sampler type albums.
At £20 a month it's not worth it for me, so cancellation it was.
Login to my account but can't find cancel button anywhere, ?
The Tidal integration doesn't seem to be very popular! I tried the free trial last year but was disappointed with the SQ and music choice.
If you cancel; does it stop access immediately or does it continue till the monthly renewal date?
eg if my payment comes out on the 28th, if I cancel today will I still get access till the 28th?

You should continue to be able to access the service until the next payment date. That's how it worked for me I believe.

I cancelled mine as soon as I signed up, knowing I could always change my mind later. Nearly 3 months later, it's still working.

Fair points, but I'll be sticking with it - the SQ is very very close to my ripped discs (I am a beta tester and the latest F/W is very good), and there's more music on there that I want to listen to than I have probable life expectancy!
I can understand cancelling for SQ or music choice issues but not over cost. I don't like paying the over priced GB pound rate but even paying monthly at that rate, the cost of the cheapest SL interconnect would pay for over 6 years of access. To put it another way, it's about the cost of one round of drinks in a pub each month. I guess we all have different priorities.
