Noisy mains

Posted by: Finkfan on 05 January 2016

Morning. Has anyone tried an RA mini purifier near their system? My Cdx2 has a gentle 'purr' most of the time, but when a pair of straightners were switched on in another part of the house over the weekend, the 'purr' became more of a growl. I know a separate mains supply would be best, but due to the distance from the board that's out of the question. Any other recommendations?

I guess it's just the nature of the beast

Yes it did for sure with my old CDX2,  but it wasn't a Naim DR,  it was another PSU make with its own DR.

Can't wait to hear what improvements are heard with a separate power supply on my CDX2

Suggest you arrange for aa demo at your local dealer, all the reviews suggest it will make your cdx2 start to really sing...

Thanks Wenger. I think I'll pop round to the dealer today for a little demo. Think he's got a 282, hi cap and 250 dr set up too. Now that will be nice!

May I humbly suggest they anyone fiddling around with mains filters or regenerators or other things of that ilk better be armed with a scope and preferably s spectrum analyser to see what is actually going on here? The target is simple: clean 50hz mains. Poking in the dark using products many of which are far from the efficacy claimed and many of which are little more than expensive snake oil is somewhat silly. And yes this is why you use a dealer who knows what they are doing and can show it empirically to you.

Just remember to pour some snake oil on the cdx2, the dealer should have some!!!!!
