Re-tagging / new artwork
Posted by: Bert Schurink on 06 January 2016
So I am almost done with a massive excercise of correcting tags and making artwork more specific. Originally I had unless explicitely clear in the used artwork in the collection box the same artwork for all cd's in the box and I used a tag prefix in cd1, 2 etc... While this was easy it was not so nice and is sometimes difficult to select the right cd based on the combination visuals / artwork.
I most probably will finish it today after three days of hard work. Because the originals are sometimes also differently organized. So CD1 content might contain content from three original albums. Three days by the way because I have a lot to correct (close to 7000 albums), of course only a fraction needs to be corrected.... I have overall already a pretty satisfying way of tagging.
But while I hate the work I have to say it's massively rewarding with the improved sense of finding music and the improved sense of visual appeal.
I wanted to get it right for my Melco setup and the re-imaging of my other nas for the Muso.
Last learning with tagging I had just before Christmas, which almost made me panic. In classical I use the system of album tagging with composer name and piece after it. Now with the ripping of the Karajan boxes my nas started to combine the 60's and 70's requiem version. Not until I changed all those cd's again by adding 60, 70 and 80....
I would at least say I have learned a new profession - tagging and finding correct artwork.
