Mu-so Qb

Well it certainly has for me! The Mu-so bought me back to Naim after a gap of 27 years with Musical Fidelity (actually 35 since I last bought any Naim kit) and a Superuniti soon followed.
I'm not one to say 'I told you so'!
Seriously, I realise that anecdotal evidence is not enough to prove the theory that Mu-so can and will bring new customers (and ex-Naimees) into the Naim fold and some will subsequently trade up.
It is an interesting thought though.
It's curious how all this talk of diversification seems to have missed some of the point of this product: that owners of sophisticated Naim streaming systems can enjoy listening to their music libraries wherever they want in potentially many rooms in their homes, without losing many of the qualities of the Naim house sound. Surely that can only be read as an enhanced customer experience.....?

Yes, I have already mentioned that some (many?) existing Naim owners will be interested in Muso/Muso Qb but this will only be a small part of the market for these products. Which is why Naim have taken the bold step to market Muso/Muso Qb outside of their normal dealership network with retailers such as John Lewis.
Having said that, I know I want one though!
They will sell in much higher number than original Muso
Didn't Arcam already do this cube thing?
5 MuSo on the bay today...a knock on effect?

Yes Arcam did the rCube but you needed a proprietary USB wireless dongle to stream lossless audio to it. As a newbie to Naim, I have a Muso about 1 year now and am interested in getting the qb. Has anyone heard it? I'm wondering is the sound tuned any differently from the Muso? The reason I ask is I also have a Beolit 15 which I may sell on to pick up the qb. I really like the Muso but find the high frequencies somewhat muffled on it (treble roll-off?) in comparison to the Beolit, so I prefer the latter for listening on some albums. If the qb has the same audio signature as Muso I would probably keep with my existing setup.

maybe
Will the Qb have a handle ?

We have one. It's not easy to set up and use and it won't stream 24nit material over a network. So hardly comparing like with like. We have since bought two Mu-Sos. The rCube lives in the shed/workshops and still sees use when Helen wants to play her iPod through a dock. The battery facility is useful.
Not sure how the Qb could sound better than the muso and if that was the case then naim would pull the plug on the muso.
Richer sounds sell naim now.
Well done Naim. Looks an excellent product (and IMHO more elegant than the the Muso) and i'm sure it will sell very well at this price point.
Surprised at some of the comments on this thread ![]()
Will it be possible to play you tube music through the muso qb.?
my son has a sonos play 1 but is dissapointed in the music platforms supported.I think it's the fact sonos play 1 has no device input sockets.
cheers scott

One's selling (or not) for £1,200.
This thread conforms to pretty much every thread ever about a new Naim product. There are always several people complaining it is rubbish / ugly / over priced (despite not having heard one / seen one in the flesh), a few drooling and saying they will definitely get one (again without having heard / seen one), a few people saying it doesn't fit properly into the range / doesn't fit with the Naim "heritage"...
all very amusing
Happy 2016 everyone

I very much hope that it does conform to threads about new Naim products: it is finally a thread about a new Naim product! And amusing must it be too, otherwise it would have been a hard time browsing through the meanwhile 8 pages! Best, happy new year! nbpf

OK you have 'paraphrased' some of the views of others but do you have any views of your very own?
Can a lightly expressed but nonetheless trenchant comment not be a view?
Best, C.
Surely it is more interesting to hear an original view rather than belittle the views of others. Much more informative.
I don't see the belittling in LILYFY's post. He's saying a spectrum of views have been expressed about a largely unknown new product.
C.
Maybe 'belittling' is too strong. But as LILIYFY was so amused by others' views I just wondered what his take was on this thread's topic.
My view is that it is surprising so many people have such trenchant views when they haven't even heard the product. I don't feel I can express a view on an audio product without having heard it - clearly, everybody's mileage varies on that. I do find it amusing that people have strong views without hearing it. But plenty of people have strong views about certain cars without having even been in them. And that is common to so many threads I have seen here (and in many other places) over the years
I have a heard a muso in rather poor circumstances (pretty much in a shop window) and was impressed by its timing / musicality (though from another thread there is some doubt I can use the word musicality). Might get one, might not...
but if I have to to agree with everyone to avoid being criticised for belittling, this isn't the place for me...
I make my own mind up (or at least try to, as we are all considerably less objective than we would like to think)
anyway, if you don't want people being blunt you had better ban people from Yorkshire ![]()
Thanks LILYFY, much more enlightening.
Couldn't agree more about people deciding they are going to buy any Naim kit without hearing it first. But I doubt many (any?) on here would buy even a Muso/Muso Qb without hearing it first even though it will inevitably be a secondary system for another room for most.
More interesting to me was the discussion about the business rationale behind the launch of Muso/Muso Qb. Like you I was less interested about who wanted one for which room.
Apologies for using the word belittling. As I am from the South I was possibly misinterpreting Yorkshire bluntness. Tricky thing the English language, particularly the written word.
Wouldn't dream of banning people form Yorkshire. Some of my best friends are from Yorkshire.![]()
All the best for 2016

With more than 60 services/platforms supported, the Qb's 2; Spotify and Tidal, can't compete with Sonos. That said native AirPlay and Bluetooth mean anything on a smartphone, e.g. YouTube Music can be easily streamed, which is a big advantage especially if you enjoy diverse, esoteric and fledgling services.
Going off topic for a minute. Sonos earlier this year revealed that.
Globally, 92 percent of all music listening on Sonos is streaming radio or paid on-demand.”
The remainder is listening from your own library.
Hi Gregw,
cheers for the reply and clarification.
I've had a bit of a clean up after this afternoon's rather strange detour - please keep on topic. Thanks.
Oh, and of you're looking for that other thread, I've removed it - otherwise it just becomes a proxy for continuing what I've just removed here.
