Mu-so Qb

The fact that there is a boyont secondhand market for Naim gear with strong secondhand values is good for us consumers, good for dealers and good for Naim. Virtually all my upgrades have been done with the help of healthy trade-in deals and I have also benefitted from the savings to be had from ex-dem and second had gear traded in by others. I'll bet there will also be a strong second hand market for Muso given time. It's all good.
Naim have been really smart Muso Qb by broadening their market even further with no signs of diluting or diminishing the development and quality of balck boxes. Let's face it us audiophile old gits are a diminishing breed. Digital and steaming technology has helped rejuvenate the market but I still see a need for some reinvention to attract a younger consumer into the Naim fold.
Enter Muso and now Muso Qb. From this thread alone there is clear evidence of Muso bringing new customers into the Naim fold and evidence that these new customers love the brand and are now trading up. Muso gives these new customers a taste of really great sound quality available today and will surely tempt some to audition Naim black boxes. Muso of course is also very tempting for existing Naim owners for smaller rooms, sons, daughters etc which is the icing on the cake of this new market. Brilliant new product development and brilliant marketing.
Finally the point has already been made that volume sales from Muso will keep Naim in a healthy financial situation and fund further product development into those balck boxes that give us all so much pleasure.
As I have already said, it is all good!
Sorry...but I fail to see anything different than Naim degrading themself into making fast selling poor sounding life style products as there are so many on the market. Leaving us more traditional Naimies getting frostbite. Don"t think Naim is up to such a stiff competion. Hope so. But don't think so.
When are the Naim badged headphones being unveiled and keyrings.

Not what I said. My friend bought the mu-so and will be returning to buy a full Naim system, not returning the mu-so (which stays in his kitchen)
"Naim degrading themselves"
oh please grow up. Muso sounds excellent and is a top of the line example of such a a product.
It is selling VERY well and there are clear indications it is bringing lots of new customers to the Naim brand? Why? Cost the vast majority of muso buyers do not own any other Naim product yet. But a significant number are looking at products like qute. This will only accelerate with qb. This is a good thing. Qed
Naim key rings? I have a Naim usb stick and Naim mouse mat

In the absence of detailed specs or images can you confirm if the Qb has an ethernet port, or is it wifi only?
It has Ethernet
I suspect the sonos and Muso are aimed at slightly different markets. Sonos really excels in multi-room, whereas I suspect most Muso users listen to it as a single source. It's my understanding that Naim multi-room is limited to 320kps whereas sonos plays full CD quality all the time. On the other hand Sonos can't stream hi-res whilst the Muso can.
For me, a sonos user, I really value the multi room set up so that's where I spent my money. For others a Muso will offer the best solution.
Qb does multi room streaming
But only at 320kps?

I have the Naim USB stick, baseball hat, shirt, glass-cleaning fabric (quite rare), tie pin and rear-window decal (the one with World-Class Audio). I'm holding out on the tattoo.
I didn't get to the new generation Play 5 Greg. We had already moved on. Still won't do anything above 16/44 which is increasingly a no no for us. The 24bit stuff is piling up now.
The little fella will make a nice BD present for Helen to put in her office.
Yes the only public announcement.

The ultimate test will be sales volumes of Muso and Muso Qb. Another key statistic I would suggest is the number of Muso/Muso Qb (new to Naim) buyers who eventually trade up to Naim black boxes.
I am not entirely convinced that Muso and Muso Qb have been launched to compete directly with the likes of Sonos as their relative features and capabilities appear somewhat different.
I also see no reason to be dismissive of so called 'lifestyle' products as long as Naim continue to develop their traditional black boxes. Indeed I see profit from Muso and Muso Qb contributing to such product development, and not distracting them from it.
I may of course completely misread Naim's strategy here. If they start to flog us key rings, I will apologise and admit I have got it wrong.
Looks like all the basic features of the Muso in a smaller box. Am quite glad Naim have apparently not dabbled much with the underlying software primarily because I think their resources are spread thinly enough as it is. If it sounds as good and operates as well as the Muso then be happy as all the initial glitches will have hopefully been ironed out in the bigger box.
As the wife was horrified at my opening gambit for a NAP 300, without mentioning the necessary 272 , I guess I'll just have to console myself with one of these in the bedroom for all my entertainment needs ![]()

Well. We just have to wait what the future wil hold. No one can tell. Let's hope for the best.
I have been considering a Sonos Play 3 or 5 for my garage but now I have a nice alternative. I look forward to hearing the QB in March ![]()
So. They've not announced key rings then? Damn!
You are so easy to wind up ![]()

Thanks for the images and confirming an ethernet port Jon.

I tend to agree, but when on the shelf at John Lewis etc. it's inevitable comparisons will be made.
