I am not entirely convinced that Muso and Muso Qb have been launched to compete directly with the likes of Sonos as their relative features and capabilities appear somewhat different.

I tend to agree, but when on the shelf at John Lewis etc. it's inevitable comparisons will be made.

That is a problem when you cast your net wider. You have to rely of John Lewis sales staff to demo and advise rather than a trained (and committed) Naim dealer.

Still get the newbies interested in Muso/Muso Qb and the brand first, generate curiosity and hopefully some (in due course) will visit a proper Naim dealer.

Who knows?

Nice pictures. Thanks John.

The MuSo is a brilliant device for use in a kitchen. It works nearly as well as turning up the volume on the main system. This latest version will be just the thing for the bedroom where shelf space is in shorter supply. What does Qb stand for?

HDMI would be daft on this

I'm guessing Quality Boom or simply a shorthand for Cube.

And probably because of the smaller width it fits with the Qute range. So it works on two levels - size and range.  Looks fun for sure.

I have a bet with Trevor Wilson that I can be the first to post "well Julian would never have approved of qb"

there it's done

I have no more use for a Qb than can I afford a Statement. At least with Statement being in Naim's line I can expect some trickle down advances to my potential mid-level Naim purchases in the future. As for Qb's arrival in the line, there's no upside from where I sit.

I love this product, and what it will do to bring Naim out of the specialist hi-fi market and into the general market.

Products like this are essential to Naim's future, and I would buy one.

More than Happy to pick one up at John Lewis or an Apple store by the way.

Well done Naim !

PS to the chattering negativity on this thread. I think these comments about key rings are quite insulting and frankly ridiculous.  Naim is not going to be selling you key rings any time in the future, and without hearing what it is capable, why put down their efforts.  The cost of owning even a UQ2 (with NACA 5 and Neat Iotas) is still quite high for many people, and this will introduce Naim at a much affordable price point.

I do not see ANY issue with this at all.

Why are you negative lot so cynical?

This is yet another product with digital amps in it. As Naim are becoming more familiar with this technology, will digital amps eventually accompany the lower end amps in the line, the 100 or the 155? Or a multichannel amp?

Agreed, we listen in some rooms with either the Mu-so or the SU volume turned up. The Qb will easily fit in the kitchen and looks like it can easily be moved from room to room so is a better solution.

In any case, Mrs J likes the look of it so that's settled then.

Since it appears as though MANY Naim customers upgrade, this might be a way to attract young people to the brand and suit those who want a simple music box. It looks nifty, and has to be better than Sonos and Hopefully it will fund the "real" hifi gear we cherish. My only concern is that as my favourite speaker maker JBL had a massive company which was bought by corporates, who have sacked their most famous transducer engineers and reduced the level of quality to cater mostly to Walmart customers. Such heritage and achievement with world class R & D now makes most gear in Mexico!   It is a tragedy when companies are gutted and the core values shift to making profit at all cost. I know Naim are NOT that company, the Naim brand is so respected it wouldn't sell out and reduce it's holding in our world. It saddened me when Jim Marshall died and his company started making amps in China!  Too many take the easy route and cater to the "mass market" which in my book does more long term harm than good.

My younger brother and sister who live in France would not want to spend more than 600 pounds on Hi-fi, so the Muso-QB is perfect for them. I will advise them to sell their existing Hi-fi and just buy this.

Why the pessimism? After all the Iphone and Macbook pros are made in China, and apple is still very much a premium brand.

Certainly looks the business in the pics. I can't feel negative about it, but in the end I reserve judgement until I've heard it. Think if I recommended my brother sell his hifi and buy one without ever having heard one, I would be somewhat vulnerable to severe pain from those sharp corners if it does not sound so good.

Frankly, I'm amazed at the number of self-proclaimed "buyers" of a music replay device no one has actually heard. Rational with my own or others money, I'd at least reserve my accolades and recommendations until the thing hits the market and I'd gained some relevant experience upon which to pass judgment. But talk is cheap.

From its shape and design, I'd say that perhaps its most relevant quality will be a surprising soundstage and 3D effect in the proper placement. A very smart product. Perhaps JV wouldn't approve of it, but then - mutatis mutandis - I suspect that Bach would have not approved of Eine kleine Nachtmusik.

Really? I would call Apple popular and mass market but not premium...

The new Naim device looks intriguing, but I will reserve judgement until I hear.. for me it's about the audio, not the lifestyle looks... I can buy a vase or hang a picture on the wall for that..

Now that the chinese are manufacturing for naim, you will see more lifestyle products as nearly everything is made in China.

So when the headphones appear those will be made in the same factory as the likes of b&w, beats, Job's, jbl etc, but will have the naim branding added at the end.

Id say naim are amazed at the opportunities that come with buying and working with the Chinese and the French investor's will always want new products to get a return, look how other companies change and update their products and are always trying to copy or fill a void in the market, key rings at £20 anyone!!!

Sorry you lose at "jv wouldn't approve of it" bingo. I got there first.

Except Naim has been working with Chinese manufacturers for a long time. It's called Naim for Bentley winch I understand has always been made by vag approved supplier in China.

Perhaps generalisations about China-built products are not very appropriate: nobody would dream of publicly and openly dismiss Italian-built things or French-built things as a whole... Or so I hope. Perhaps if Chinese can build this:

they can also make a table radio. With all due respect for the Mu-so family.

The retina macbook pro is very much a premium laptop.

My posting happened cos the Naim team (Trevor dougy manu etc), all of whom are reading this thread, were waiting for the "jvwaot" comment. So I made a bet that i could get in first

Sure the Chinese are great at manufacturing and exporting, but nobody wants to breathe the air there. Or have multiple offspring.
