Morning all...thoughts appreciated here...
Having recently moved house, I'm going to get a 2nd system. I am thinking of either going 272/250/XPS or KDS1/Supernait 2/hicap. I already have the KDS1 btw, so the first option could see it traded in.
I'm going to to take the KDS1 along and have a listen to the various combinations. However what am dithering on is whether to keep my Rega P9/apheta for use in the 2nd system. What I'm not sure about is the solo options that might be available. I am currently using an Aria in the main rig with my RP10 and it works beautifully with the Apheta, which I have found to match poorly with a Prefix in the past. I assume that this was an impedance issue.
Simply getting another Aria is clearly an option, but I wondered if anyone else has any alternative ideas and/or any experience of the Rega turntables into the 272 in particular. I've done a fair bit of searching but I haven't seen very much about people's experiences of running analogue through one of these.
All thoughts very much welcomed!

How's this for an expensive option? Buy a Rega IOS Reference for the main system and relegate the Aria to the 2nd system along with the P9. The IOS Ref is extraordinary...

Frank.

Oscars keeper,
Your 1st system must be pretty good if you are considering using a KDS1 in your 2nd. Could I ask what you plan to use in the 1st?
Both of the options you outline sound exceptionally good. Although I have't personally heard the 272, I have not seen a single bad review, so it must be extremely good. I have however heard the KDS1, which I think is exceptional.
I would be surprised if the streaming/DAC components of the 272 are better, given the difference in relative cost. However, the overall balance of the system based on the 272 may be better. I suspect that few people on the forum will have spent a lot of time with both the 272 and KDS1, and that only you will be able to decide.
I would emphasise the advantage of a home demo if at all possible. I have found this to be the only way to ensure I end up with no doubts about the wisdom of my choice.
Good luck.
