New ProAc speaker

For information
ProAc have replaced their D1 speaker with a new model called DB1
It features a new woofer and new tweeter
The cabinet is a little larger but same style as D1
The price is said to be £1200 which seems a little low?
It is also quite efficient and easy to drive at 8Ω nominal impedance. It remain to be seen if it can surpass the Response 1SC...
That would be quite an accomplishment to surpass the 1SC...
Just traded in my Rega Ela Mk 2 speakers 18 years old. Got the same price I paid for them all those years ago for ProAc D20Rs. That is along with £2200 lol.
Hope I notice the difference in 3 months after a run in period.

Would be good if you can feedback once the run in done

In theory, the man could come up with something at least as good as what he has done before but I wonder if these prevalent sound artists ( Tyler, Whittle, Shaw, Hugues, etc) are not in some ways fighting against deaftness with age. A loudspeaker is just like a musical instrument, it has to be fine tuned by a human ear and not only by a computer.
Hopefully these geezers have some young(er) ears in their teams to rely on.
What I would like from Proac would be a more modern design, or at least do away with that bottom ''lip'' for starters.

Does this mean it's the end of the road for D2?

Will do, on a monthly basis. Once I have them installed that is.

D20R's pair beautifully with Naim gear and are great sounding speakers. I'd be surprised if you weren't ultimately pleased with the change.
Im pleased with the price as they go up in cost at the start of Febuary.
