Howard's iMac problem # several. (iMail this time)

For some reason my main mail is not sending mails, it receives OK.

I use my @btinternet.com mail addy, the error box says please enter password for a @hotmail.com.

I go to log on and change details of hotmail now only shows Outlook account but not as Hotmail. confused is what I am.

Why is my BT A/C now connected to my old hotmail A/C?

AFAICR I haven't changed any thing last update was El Capitain but I can't remember if it coincided.

I can work around by sending from an other A/C but a solution/ understanding would be apreciated.

The things I would check are: what are the email accounts that the Mail app has set up within it (via Mail Pereferencs) and whether each account (BT and Hotmail) have different incoming and outgoing severs and compare these settings with BT and MSN? guides.

I've had problems with BT email as BT changed their servers to and fro from Yahoo. I did manage to sort things and changed from POP3 to IMAP for this account.

You may have to set up each account from scratch, so archiving/backing up the inbox, sent and deleted boxes are a wise move.
