ND5 XS unexpectedly stops playing

Hi All,

From time to time (so, not every time) I play a queued music list on the ND5 XS, it stops playing at random times. This typically only happens once during a listening session. When pressing "play" again, it works fine for the rest of the time.

The ND5 gets its music from a NAS using Minimserver as UPnP server.

Anyone similar experience?

This happens occasionally with my NDS.  Alas, pressing PLAY doesn't restart the track, and I have to go to the playlist and click on the appropriate track again.   I assume it must be a buffering problem.  Before you ask, I am using Ethernet (wired) via a Netgear unmanaged switch.

That's correct! Wrong expressed from my side. When you press "Play" it indeed starts playing the list from track 1, not from the track where it stopped playing.

I've a wired connection to a Netgear too. As it is random, I expect it to be a network issue. Although, I never have issues with my SONOS (sharing the same NAS) since +6 years and their wasn't heavy load on the network when it occured.

Is the playlist crated on NAS or via the Naim app?

It is actually a queued list of albums I selected via the app. So, not a saved playlist on the App or NAS

Can you test one thing: build a playlist on your NAS and try playing it and see if this one gets interupted?

Will do in the coming days/weekend.

As said, strange thing is that it happens once (~30' after startup) ; thereafter (for the rest of the day) it works fine.

Some/Most days it works perfectly, without any interuption.

It happens to me too but could be for a different reason. My best hypothesis? The ND5XS come across a track (NAS) of a format it does not fancy and quits in a huff... I have never taken the time to double check every single track in my collection to make sure they're all the right format though.... it does not happen a lot but it happens

Not sure, if it should be a track the ND5XS doesn't like, it should fail every time, but it doesn't...

Whether this'll work for you I don't know.

I had a slightly similar issue in that after restarting the ND5 XS, then about 1 track in 3 it would stop, replay the last 2 seconds of the previous track (but in my case it would carry on).  I tracked this to be the config of the WiFi router, specifically I needed to disable 'IGMP snooping', as it seemed to be blocking some of the 'bonjour' messages from the ND5 and/or the NAS.

Playing all day and, so far, not a single hiccup. Most annoying is that it is not that easy to reproduce.
