UnitiServe MetaData Correction Issues

Posted by: Mike Woodcock on 18 January 2016

Hello Again!

Having decided to painstakingly update all the missing/incorrect MetaData on my newly ripped CDs - I have hot an issue with compilation CDs by Various Artists.  The US puts "Various Artists" as the artist for every track.  When I update the artist to the correct name, all tracks on the same album are named to the same artist.  I go to update the next track and everything (including the one I have just updated) gets updated to that artist?!

Any thoughts?  Saving files as WAV to a NAS, but it didn't work when they were saved to my US either?

For 2 years I have Naim SuperUniti, UnitiServe and Focal Electra 1008Be speakers. (Prior to that, Krell Evolution 7.1 system with larger Focal speakers, not streaming of course.) Yes, I have the manuals. They are OK when everything is working correctly, which it has for past 2 years. I'd better get used to spending more time digging into the interfaces to see what's there. Never had a rip that was faulty, according to ripping interface on n-Serve.

Thanks for your help. I'll persevere. Have learned a lot from you today!

Thanks for clarifying Chpoin, in which case, if you are ripping with a US, n-serve should enable you edit metadata

have you tried the IT help desk solution of turning off and on....

As a UnitiServe Mac owner I agree that the interface is more intuitive for PC users than Mac ones.  I have ripped almost 1,300 CD's so far and land up editing the metadata for just about all of them.  I'm a firm believer in "do it once, do it right" so am making sure my genres, capitals etc are consistent and choosing the best cover art within my defined parameters.  Needless to say it's a time consuming process!

P.S. Am also on the same side of the world as you, in NZ.

I hope someone will delete my 'email', above! It appeared I was replying above the line... Now I've powered the SuperUniti up again and it is detected, I CAN USE the edit line in the drop-down menu on OS n-Serve. Have deleted the most difficult CD, and emptied trash - thanks for all these hints. I dimly recall seeing "Maintenance" in the OS n-Serve when I first got the system, but needed to be reminded. A thousand thanks to you both for your support and encouragement.

You should be able to delete/edit your post with your contact details in by clicking on "Take Action"  on the bottom right hand corner of the post.

Glad it appears to be working now and happy to help where I can.

You can edit your own posts, but only for a short while after posting (15 minutes, I think.) After that, you can ask the moderator to do it for you.

Have deleted the "email" post, and am progressing well with amending metadata. Thanks once more.
