NAC 286 -> SuperCap powering SuperLine // Which cable between NAC 282 and SC ?

Posted by: AbsoluteMusic on 19 January 2016

Hi

I'm looking for a confirmation of the cable i need to link my NAC282 to the SC. Is it a Din 4/5 ?
Assuming the folowing should be ok .

=> NAC282 (Aux2 not powered) to SC via Din 4/5 then SC to SL via Burndy.

Today my setup is NAC282 (Aux2 Powered) to SL via Din (but different from the one i will need in my new setup as 240/5 if i'm not wrong).

Tks for your tips/confirmation

Phil

I'm not entirely sure what you have and are trying to do - you may need to explain more clearly, at least to me! If you asking if you can power both the Superline and the 282 directly from the Supercap, one via Burndy and one via Snaic, then the answer is no, you can't.

Hi HUNGRYHALIBUT

Tks for you reply, so hope my explanation will be a bit more clear.

1) As I would like to power my SL with a new SC DR so the link between them will be made with a Burndy => Correct ?

2) Assuming that i should also link my NAC to something else i thought that a cable (Which one ?) would be needed between my NAC and the SC to have the signal from the turntable/SL/SC on NAC but i'm pehaps wrong (Naim doc not really clear)

Tks

If your SL is powered by its own Supercap, and your 282 is powered by a Hicap or a second Supercap, you just run a 4 pin to 5 pin interconnect between the Superline's Supercap and the 282.

Yep,

  • My NAC is powered with a Hipcap and i will just add a SC DR to power the SL.
  • The SC will be dedicated to SL

So my initial question was "Which cable should i buy to link my NAC to the SC" .

  1. Is the AUXtwo of the NAC the right input where the SC should be connected  ?
  2. Which cable (x pin / x pin) do i need between my NAC and the SC ?

Tks a lot

Err, I told you in my post, which you quoted: a 4 pin to 5 pin interconnect - the thin grey one, not a Snaic. Connect from one of the Supercap outputs to a non-powered input on the 282. I only know this because I looked in the connections guide online!

Between SLine and SuperCap: A SuperLine  Burndy or a SNAIC (240-deg 5-pin DIN)

Between SuperCap and 282: 4-to-5 pin DIN

You can connect the 4/5 DIN to any of the 5-pin DIN inputs of the 282

Enjoy!
