Naim app iOS 4.8
Posted by: TJ on 19 January 2016
There will be a new version of the Naim app available on the app store later today. Here are the release notes
Improved: Responsiveness of Multiroom volume control
Improved: Support for iPad Pro
Improved: Responsiveness of Spotify transport controls
Improved: Some foreign language translations
Improved: Play queue reordering (long press track to reorder)
Improved: Mu-so firmware update procedure
Fixed: Missing Rovi button on USB input
Wasn't working here for us 30 minutes ago but seems to be fine now - I suspect that there was a Rovi issue which they've now resolved.
Phil
Many thanks for keeping us informed Phil. Works for me now
I can't find any way to access the metadata other than track lists and album covers.
Previously on the older app there was an info button but I can't find where that or a Rovi button might be.
Where should I be looking!!??

Assuming you are streaming your on ripped or downloaded stuff it should either be at the top right or to the left of the random, volume control and run length of the track if you are looking at the large album cover and can swipe left or right to change tracks.
JATR, I see that you have a Unitiserve. I assume that you are using the Naim app with your streamer and not the n-serve app.
JART21 have a look at my profile page I have uploaded a couple of images of my iPad app showing the 'open book' icon. Hope it helps
I'm also having big problems at the moment discovering devices in the naim app 4.8. I have a NaimUniti and a Mu-so. I have also recently acquired a Unitiserve. I also have an iPad and an iPhone 6 (9.2.1)with the app installed. I checked via my BTHH4 admin console and I can see all my devices on the network with IP addresses using DHCP. However I see "No rooms found" when I open the app.
I have experimented with switching devices on and off and as a last resort earlier, I turned my BTHH off and on. This was successful temporarily with both my devices automatically discoverable, but at some point since my devices have disappeared again. My Mu-so did come back for a bit again but now has gone.
Interestingly, when I went to Bluetooth settings via my iPad config, Bluetooth is on but my one listed device Mu-so BT 37E4 appears as not connected. I am able to manually connect and I know it can talk to my Mu-so because I was just playing Spotify and by connecting it interrupted my Spotify stream and halted it. However it appears that I have to keep manually re-connecting. Also I notice that where it says OTHER DEVICES underneath I have a circle icon continually rotating, I'm not sure if this is normal or not!
Can anyone who understands the networking much better than me, advise how I can go about troubleshooting my problems, which are leaving me increasingly frustrated.
Regards,
Martin

We see this quite frequently with BT Home Hubs that they need a reboot to re-enable autodiscovery - they seem to get themselves into a mode where they just seem to block it.
Unfortunately rebooting the router without rebooting everything else on the network can lead to a whole raft of other network related issues as the HomeHub DHCP is then reset.

That sounds normal ... the devices your iPad can connect to are listed as "Not Connected" and you touch the device to connect to it. Any new devices are listed at the bottom and you do get the spinny circle of boredom at the bottom as it is scanning for new Bluetooth devices.
Thanks Phil. I came across a previous article that you posted December 14 describing the problems. I obtained the Net Analyzer app and observed Bonjour services being dropped on my devices. I guess as you suggested I need to splash out on a decent router to avoid these annoyances.
Many thanks!
Martin
Thanks Burgy100.
no book icon on my screen. Have reinstalled the app but no change. Also reinstalled n-serve app for my Unitiserve. So the metadata is showing there.
The streamer is a Naimuniti Mark 1 running version 3.13.00.
I'm a bit frustrated as the previous "green" app worked fine accessing the Rovi info.
Still hoping there is a fix.
Thanks
Jatr
That's a very old firmware version, update it to the latest.
Hello Jatr,
I agree with the other members 3.13 wad released in March 2012 and a lot has changed in 4 years. That should be your first port of call is to upgrade and I am sure Naim Support would ask you to do the same, plus you are missing out on improvements to your cherished product. I have continually updated my unitiserve and ND5 XS and the additions are well worth it. Some say there has been improvement in sound quality, although to my ears I could not tell the difference.

this is all fine, but what about the majority who have android, this platform lacks too
Any word if the font size of Artist/Track is under review? I'd like the option of a user selectable font size instead of having to squint at a tiny white smudge top central on an iPad Pro.
Majority of people i know have OSX devices.
it's not available on OSX
He meant iOS but pedantry aside, no answer to my question yet?
hi
i recently realised that i have a new kind of "issue"...maybe since the new release...
i use an Ipad to play the content of my Syno on the NDS. I explore the library "by artist-by album". In the artist folder, i see ,more often than before, that the CD jacket is not display (just a "musique note on blue"). though all my albums have been tagged the same way and all the album picture are encapsullated in the tag with the same resolution 500X500.
I've clean the cash memory and the Upnp cash (as i was used to do from time to time) but......no !
I still have this issue to visualise the CD picture in some folders since this realease has been issued
I have both the Mu-So and the Mu-So Qb. I can stream simultaneously to both from iTunes. But from the iOS / Android app i cannot direct the stream from one active Mu-so to the other. I googled for this and found I should have a icon (four tiled squares) in the right bottom part of the app. But the icon is missing in my apps. I there something I should set up before the icon get visible? I have iOS app version 4.8 (Both iPro and iTouch). Android App version 1.7. Mu-so Streamer version 1.3.00 Mu-so Qb Streamer version 1.4.0.
Another issue with the Naim app 4.8: The alphabetic letters on the right side have disappeared. I'm sure they showed up when downloaded the app (a month ago). How do I fix it, I found them quite useful.

Found a fix for the issue that relates to autodiscovery issues on the WiFi network. Log on to your WiFi router setup page and un-check " Enhanced Multicast Forwarding " under wireless Network settings. Then the autodiscovery will work, and you do not need to add rooms manually. Multiroom only works if the NAIM app is able to autodiscover the playback devices. The multiroom icon will disappear if only one room is present or autodiscovery is not enabled on the network.
