Is it possible to create an input independent playlist? To combine Tidal songs with songs on my Nas in one playlist. I saw this option on someone elses bluesound app and am trying to find how to do this on the Naim app. If not possible now....could this be integrated in the future?

It's certainly possible to create a mixed UPnP/Tidal play queue. I forget weather this can also be saved as a playlist  and I'm not near my streamer now, so I can't check, but it would be a simple thing to try.

Just checked and unfortunately that doesn't work, thanks for the tip though Chrissu. As you said, we can queue mixed upnp/tidal items, but we can't save the queue into a playlist. The option which is there normally for non-mixed inputs is simply left out when there is a mix. The cool thing I saw in the bluesound app was also that after the song, either a symbol for upnp or for tidal appeared, so you could see what the source is. Anyway, step one, being able to save a mixed input queue into a playlist would be awesome!!

Hi all

Hope still in time, here goes a tricky one...

Items in scope: NDX (latest firmware update installed) and naim remote control, Synology with latest DSM release (as of June 2016), iPad Air with latest iOS release, Galaxy S4 with latest Android release.

Issue: Browsing of UPnP customised menu from iPad does not "work" (views by folder, artist etc turn out to have no tracks within or show mixed up tracks) . Browsing instead runs perfectly OK when using naim remote or when using Android. Happens since some months now, probably since latest naim app upgrade. Unfortunately I cannot recall exactly when it started.

Tried remediation attempts: Reindexed media on syno (many times), rebooted syno (many many times), changed structure of customised menu (different options tested) and reverted to iPod standard menu in syno DLNA server. No success.

After many weeks, I have taken the courage to post something only now that I can confirm that menus and tracks work fine except for when the naim iOS app gets in the way.

Happy to hear any thoughts -Thanks a million.

You don't specifically say what DLNA/UPnP server software, but reading between the lines I suspect/assume its Synology's native "Media Server",  if so its exactly the same as my system (& I have no such problems)

Re the customised DMA browsing menu,  I use the standard Advanced style,  but 99.9% of the time I browse by Folder.  I don't believe its a problem in the DMA browsing but would leave it on Simple style for the time being.

I also don't think its in the Synology & more so as you've reindexed & rebooted,  & as it runs OK with the Naim remote & Android,   it all points to the iPad app.   I would try clearing both the cache's  -  Settings>Input Settings>UPnP>Clear UPnP Cache  &   Settings>Other Settings>Clear Image Cache.      If that doesn't work I would delete the app & reinstall.

Sorry it took so long to come back to you. I did want to test as thoroughly as possible and see effects after a while.

Thanks very much for the clear advise, indeed cleaning the UPnP cache gets the job done... but for only for a while - I am talking about just few hours of browsing. Then a reset is needed again and so forth.  Unfortunately due to the use we make of the library we do need a customised menu style (lots of classical and ancient music with varying search criteria) so the predefined menus are of limited help here.

Now that I am on a better track and can focus on the app I have more elements at hand to try to understand what type of browsing actions tend to cause or accelerate the issue and if eventually I can characterize it better, send it to Naim for the next app release. Unfortunately it will take me weeks if not months since it is something not in my time planning....

If I learn anything (really) relevant I will post it here for the benefit of others.

Thanks again!

I've been having a recurrent problem with my US - primarily a random 'cd not recognised' message, which necessitated rebooting the US.

I've cured it (I hope) buy shutting down the iPad/iPhone apps and relying on n-Serve on my MacBook.

Hi there,

since a while after reseting the Naim app at my Ipad or Iphone, the unit (ND5XS) can't be found automaticly, I have to type details (name of the unit and IP address) my self.

What can be the reason of that, it can be the settings of router/modem or the streamer?

regards,

Kacper
