The Excuses Men Make

Yesterday's 'Weiner Exposed' must be a tabloid writers dream ticket and reminds me of other ludicrous excuses.

Ron Davis - 'Badger watching' and the Glasgow Sherriff caught in a 'massage parlour' stating that he had only 'come in for a shave'......

Any more?

Weiner gave a truly textbook example of how not to handle an embarrassing situation.

He should have simply admitted his mistake, apologized, shut up, resigned, and sought professional help.

Instead he made up these ridiculous stories about his twitter account being hacked, and how he was hiring an investigator to get to the bottom of it.   And then, when the pictures started coming out, he held that absurd press conference, and could not stop talking about the details!

The last idiot before him was Elliot Spitzer, former Governor of New York, who got caught hiring $2000/night prostitutes.   By contrast, he did immediately apologize, resign, etc..  Now, just a couple of years later, he is a respected TV political analyst.  Quite an amazing comeback!

Weiner, by lying, and then by acting so pathetically, has made himself a laughing stock.  I think his chances of a Spitzer-like comeback are slim to none.
