CDS 3 value?

Posted by: Tom E. on 26 January 2016

That time of year and I'm updating the inventory for insurance purposes. Any thoughts on what I should value the CDS 3 for in USD? (priceless isn't an option, but that's the way I feel about it)...I recently sent it into the shop for a tune up, new transport and whatever else they did to it. Remarkable change, just remarkable. It made me realize why I bought it those many years ago.

I think as our kit ages, the degradation is slow and we don't hear the change and don't realize the change until we get it tuned up. I have vague memories of what I used to be able to do 40 years ago and wonder if there's a "re-cap" service available for my various body parts.

thanks....

Tom

The insured value should be whatever it will cost you to source and purchase another one that has been service and a new mech fitted, or one with an original mech plus the cost of a service and mech replacement.  I'm not sure about figures in US$ but it shouldn't be too hard to get an idea of a reasonable figure.  Maybe Chris at AV Options can help out here.

Here in Australia I have "new for old" insurance. If anything happens, I get a new replacement, or in this case the modern equivalent.

Sadly..? I bought my CDS3 for £1500, which actually became €1800 when I sold a spare Burndy that came with it. Even if I'll have to service it before I die, it will still be a bargain.
