Naim Prefix or internal cards in NAC52?

It has been quite some time since I was active on the forum due to poor health. I have memory problems and was hoping I could clarify something relating to my phono stage. I purchased a NAC52 some 3 years ago and my source is a Linn LP12. I seem to recall that I had the tt fitted with a prefix phono stage (Prefix S?) rather than fitting phono cards in to the 52. The Linn is connected to input socket 2 on the back of the 52.  The input selector on the front is the CD source, not the phono input Am I correct in thinking that this socket 2 is powered and is therefore powering the Prefix? Also, am I correct in assuming that the Prefix is the S variation? I use a Dynavector 17D3 cartridge.

Any clarification would be very much appreciated

Pedro,  a Prefix would be connected to INPUT 2 on the back (there are two sockets for Input 2 - one 240 degree DIN 5 powered for the Prefix, one 180 degree DIN 5 unpowered for a line level source such as a CD player - you cannot use both sockets at once). As to the front panel source selection, it will spend on how you have labelled up the buttons...

As to the Prefix, There were S, K and E or R versions.  Your Prefix should be labelled up as to which type it is, however, the usual recommendation for Dynavector LO MCs is to use the S type.

Many thanks Richard for your reply. Seems I was on the right track.
