I just put this same post mistakenly on the "hi-fi corner" area of the forum. This note likely is more appropriate for this area.
I have an active SBL system with 135s with a 272 preamp/streamer. My tv and a NAS full of music are connected to the system. I have the Naim controller app downloaded on an iPad and usually control the system -- both inputs and volume -- with the app on the iPad.
The iPad is getting increasing uses for purposes other than as a remote for the system, and, increasingly, those uses are happening at the same time that the system is being used, making it inconvenient to use the iPad to control the system.
I have a mac on which I would like to install the controller app and be able to use either the mac or the iPad to control the system. Is it possible to have the controller app for the 272 on multiple devices? If so, how do I install the app on my mac? The app for the 272 is not on the apple app store. My dealer downloaded the app, and got it functioning, on the iPad and i would rather not trouble it for a visit to my house simply to install the app on a second device if it is easy for me to install it on the mac.
Thank you for your help,
Lawrence

The Naim app will work on any iOS or Android device, but that's all, there is no desktop version.
There is a little third-party app called QuteControl you can use on a Mac. It's basic compared to the Naim app, but it works.

All,
Thank you for your replies. Eloise, and Chrissu your answer that there is no Naim app for mac explains my experience: my iPad has two Naim apps on it, but one, it was explained to me, was simply for the purpose of doing some act needed for the second app, which is the controller for the 272. When I tried to download the app onto my mac, only one app was available, the app that assisted the controller app. The controller app never appeared. Now I know why.
The QuteControl app also appeared for a $6 charge. I will pass on paying for an app that is both more expensive and less robust than the android app.
I would ask why in the world no mac app is available, but I won't. I have an Android phone, and I will download the Android device app and have my phone be the second controller.
Thank you for your help.

The other Naim app you mention is n-serve which is used for controlling Naim server products such as HDX and Unitiserve. It is separate from the streaming app which is called "naim" these days and if you don't have a Naim streamer, then you don't need it on your iPad. N-serve is available for Mac, but the "naim" app isn't, as others have said. You will find the naim app for Android is not quite as good as the IOS app though as it is further back in its development. There is no problem running the IOS app on two separate IOS devices, if you have two, and using them interchangeably. You can't have them both open at the same timeout this is not an issue and you can change from one to the other at will.
best
