NAP135's

Posted by: bluedog on 04 February 2016

Very excited - just paid the deposit on a mint serviced pair of 135's to replace my 250 (following the recommendation of several forum members last year).  Looking forward to hearing the difference in my system.  Will post findings.

Lovely! Last time i had a set here, they had not long been back from Naim after a full service. They were not mine, and were not for sale otherwise i'd have bought them in a heartbeat. I bought a set of 300 a couple of weeks later, which i liked, but they didn't really do it for me like those 135's.

Enjoy!

Well Mason I hope one of us isn't disappointed

The difference between a single 250 and 135s is very noticeable. A few years ago a friend went from a single chrome 250 with fairly new caps to Olive 135's just serviced and the improvements were very worthwhile. It was something I always looked to do but never did as the cost was always too high for me. At that time he had beautiful looking Gales (chrome ends) and a LP12, Ittok (can't remember the cartridge) front end.

I look forward to hearing about he effects, too. I am not really considering 135's (thinking more of a 300) but perhaps I should

A nice pair you have bluedog! I`m sure i know which ones you have purchased. I also bought a SC too  52 to follow .

52/SC, 135's is really an awesome endgame . Dump the rest on the best source you can, sit back and enjoy.

I have been tinkering with some of my older boxes as well as setting up a new-to-me 12S/Snaps/160 combo in the last day or so. Just breaking in the new service but right away I could hear the Naim signature sound loud and clear. I mean really CLEAR- that 12s is something special!

Mark

I still have my 250 and my 135s.

The 135s are a big leap up the enjoyment ladder. Well worth the extra cost. You should not be disappointed.

You're in for a big treat with the 52 and SC!

Congratulations, Bluedog. I bet mint 135s don't pop up very often.  Hope you'll post when you've got them in your system, warmed-up and performing.

Great Bluedog, I have a pair of olive 135's that date from 1993- had full service 2010.

Great amps- especially with serviced 52. Enjoy!

Hi

I bought a pair 2nd hand quite a few years ago now, after a 180 - Wow ! - Mine need a service by now, which I will get done soon.

Great amps - you will love them !

Regards,

Al

Not quite, but I went from 135s to 300 (which is away being DR'd) and I was very happy with the increased weight and authority the 300 brought to my system. Other people may have different views!

I recently replaced a NAP200 with a pair of olive 135s. I was initially considering an olive 250 to complete a classic Naim system as I already had the LP12/Ittok plus 52/52PS and the SBLs. A serviced pair of 135s were just too tempting and I have no regrets. Great weight and authority.

Please don't ask that question.  I compared a NAP300 vs my 135s driving PMC Fact12 and preferred the 135s.

A little while later, I heard the 300DR driving the Sopra 1 and Sopra 2 speakers in dealer demos.

Uh oh.  This could get expensive...

I shall be moving from a 180 to the 135's too , I skipped the 250 . Because I know I needed the system I heard in the early 90's !

Congratulatons a pair of serviced 135s will serve you very well as mine did for many years until my 500 arrived.

Show off.

Love my matched set of a NAP140

See you tomorrow Jon!

The 135s are great amps. They are a surprising step up from the 250. They possess that special magic (as has been said before) that top of the line Naim equipment has. I am not surprised that some prefer them to the 300.

But has anyone compared them to 300 dr ?
