gapless playback

Is gapless playback available on Muso and SuperUniti? If so how do I enable it?

I don't believe that gapless playback is possible on the Muso but it should be for the Superuniti (my UnitiQute certainly plays gapless). No special setting is needed for the naim streamers to play gapless.

You have not specified what UPnP server you are using so, if you are having issues with gapless playback with the Superuniti, I would suspect that this is down to the UPnP server software.

Gapless is solely down to the server, and has nothing to do with the SU or Muso. Just in case you are using Synology Media server and transcoding FLAC to WAV, you won't get gapless. The answer is to instal MinimServer, which will transcode and play gapless albums perfectly.

Thanks. I'm using Asset as my UPnP server on a QNAP NAS. There doesn't seem to be a setting for gapless playback although other forums say it is supported.

Yes Asset allows gapless, but specifically the gapless  functionality is provided by the network streamer or player on a UPnP renderer setup... The renderer effectively buffers the two streams together as it plays them, all the UPnP media server needs to do is to allow the media to be pulled and allow two streams to overlap slightly. Additionally the time should be short between fetching two tracks, otherwise the streamer player buffer will exhaust before the new stream starts.

minimServer and MinimStreamer also allow for gapless functionality from renderers

I've had the NDS playing gapless and the MuSo not playing gapless from the same server - Minim and Asset (don't know about other servers) so it is down to the streamer, at least in my case..

Sorry - I was assuming that because Media Server wouldn't transcode gapless but Minim would, that it was down to the server. But clearly not! It seems odd that the Muso won't play gapless though.

Yes the consensus seems to be that Muso won't play gapless but other Naim streamers will. Odd.

Thanks. I think I understand that! I've not used Minim. Is it better than other servers?

I haven't activily checked it - but the last update of the Muso talked about gapless playback. So I believe this has been removed as well.

The Muso supports gapless since the last firmware. Streaming Pink Floyd DSOM into my Muso with Qobuz as source and BubbleUPnP as control app is true gapless.

As per my previous post: have you established that your MuSo is running the latest firmware?

My understanding is that if a firmware update is available it will show in the Naim app. Mine isn't showing one so I assume I'm running the latest version. I can't find a way of checking independently as is possible with my Superuniti.

Naim have confirmed that if the Muso has the latest v1.3.0 firmware it will play gapless, just as Wolf R said above.

Thanks. I might try changing my UpNP server to see if that does the trick.
