Les nouveaux haut-parleurs sont arrivés...

And I would post you a picture, but any orientation of the (portrait format) photo in Dropbox appears in landscape format when I post the link here.  What gives?

BTW - in the spirit of a post-pub rant, the marketing gods in Salisbury should remember that this motley bunch of geeks are your brand's most powerful advocates and deserve whatever it costs/takes to produce a usable software platform for the forum.

But what are your new speakers??

Using amazing powers of investigation, I say - Sopra 1.

Close, but no cigar (actually a pipe)...

Well, that's what it says in your profile.

Mais oui...

I'm a little confused why you said no when the answer was yes, but never mind. They look very smart. Don't forget that if you mute the record circuits of the 252 the sound will improve.

Apologies, my poor-quality sense of humour.

Very nice. What's the placement like Noogle. Are they rear ported as i could see a slot on some photos but wasn't sure if it was a port ?

What do you think so far ?

Have just plonked them down at the moment as I'm having an AV install in the room in a few days' time.  Not much space in here so they're about 7" in front of he corners of the chimney breast.  Yes, they are rear ported and come with optional foam port bungs.

I'm blown away by them - doing the whole "I must re-listen to my whole music collection at once" thing.  First impressions are of a really sweet, open treble and natural, effortless voices.  The cabinets are quite deep so I suspect their overall volume is a s big as some small floorstanders.  Listening to "North Dakota" by Lyle Lovett late last night (admittedly an excellent recording) was spookily real.

More to follow.

Quick one - are the speakers attached to the stands in some way or just sit on them ?

Posted on: 09 February 2016 by Noogle

There's a heavy triangular steel plate on top of the stand, attached to the speakers with three bolts.  A rubber washer for each bolt decouples the speaker from the plate.

Ver nice,

Didn't realise they were rear ported; my No2s are bottom ported. Glad you are liking them, I am loving mine even though they are not fully run in.

Lovely Noogle, lovely.  The Sopra 2 seems to be attracting all the limelight in reviews, but I rather like the Sopra 1 too.
