My Naim journey in pictures

The engine room:
That's all folks!

What's the next step?
One note on the positioning of the APC vs patch-panel / switch: have you considered moving it as low in the rack as possible. UPS can be quite 'noisy'.
Thanks Adam. Next (and last) is to replace cables with SL and then stop worrying about it all.
The OCD has to stop somewhere!
That's the spirit! You certainly don't want to get into alternative DACs and other random box swapping. That's the great thing about the 272/250 (or 300 of course) is that it sounds so complete, and gives limited scope for fiddling. Now my SL leads have a couple of months on them it's all settling down nicely. It looks as though you can get away with the shortest speaker leads, but you'd need two Din to xlr leads, but that's the price of having a swanky amplifier.... Still, you only need two Powerlines, which is good. It's amazing how the system works with the SL leads. I'm playing an old favourite - the Gregson and Collister live album 'Home and Away' -and it's as though the system isn't there at all; amazing really.
So, as the cast of Grange Hill once sang, Just Say No to that cheeky Adam. Four boxes is quite enough, as is three of course.

Unfortunately I'll need a 5m pair of speaker cables as the right-hand speaker is further away that first seems.
So £3k for speaker cables, £3k for swanky DIN/XLR interconnects, and (of course) DR the 300 at some point. Not quite done yet then
. I cant decide whether to SL or DR first...
At least I already have the powerlines ![]()
The XPS has settled in nicely over the last few weeks and has really opened up the 272. This four box combo has amazing synergy. For the first time ever I'm starting to understand what genuine high performance sounds like, and I'm liking it, a lot.
I've had to open out the speakers as I found they were toed-in too much in the new set up, and it helped develop the sound stage. I may try swapping them over on the weekend as they are 'handed', to see what impact it has.
Happy days ![]()

Funny, same thing I was thinking!!!!!!
Ditto!
Loving the set up ITV!
I hope you allow me to join in with my journey with Naim. Hopefully others will do the same
It started a long time ago. After having for many years a setup with a Primare CD-player, Grundig tuner, passive preamp (can't remember the name) and a Cyrus power amp together with Audioplan Kontrast II, I got bitten to get a new setup. The new setup was just a Uniti, but not for long. Soon after came a NAP 200 to get more power for the loudspeakers and a RipNas for ripping and streaming.

This was the setup with speakers

Naimees are known to get bitten by upgraditis. I got a proper fraim

the Uniti was replaced with a HDX and Weiss DAC, Ripnas stayed with a never version, NAP 200 was replaced with NAP 250.2

Speakers were replaced with the never version of Audioplan Kontrast V

But this wasn't the end of the journey
HDX got replaced by an NDS and XPS2DR, the whole living room got rearranged with quite some improvements in sound

But the best was yet to come. My dealer called some weeks ago, he knew I wasn't completely satisfied with the sound. The loudspeakers were lacking bass, may be due to it's rather small size. Lansche Audio 3.1 was the loudspeaker he had just got in and was convinced this was the matching speaker. After some listening at the dealers and an extended listening session at home the decision was taken. Delivery was some weeks later, since then I'm in high end heaven:-)))

I hope you enjoyed this post
Well done! I like the evolution of the system and the changes in the room design.
Nice old cabinet - mid 19th century?
Only just caught up wil this gmischol. Nice evolution, thanks for contributing.
