Connecting Nac 72 to Nap 90/3

Hi, I'm trying to use a 72 with a Nap 90/3 (slimline), doesn't seem to work unless I Hicap the 72, can't I just use the 72 with the 90/3?

The NAC72 would need to have the 5 pin link plug fitted in order to work when powered from the NAP90/3.
