From SBL to SL2, active set up query

I am thinking of buying some SL2s to put in place of my SBLs. Would I need to change the settings on my SNAXO?

The SNAXO is the same whether using SL2s or SBLs, however, you may wish to slightly tweak the level pots.  This is probably best done by your dealer.  If you do decide to do it yourself then the pots should have a tiny pen mark to show their default setting when set up at the factory.  You should not need to deviate too far from this.

Thanks Richard

I just wanted to check no factory re-config needed.

Ooh, SL2, good idea. Where did you find them?

Under a gooseberry bush!

I will let you know when I have definitely decided to go ahead or not. They are hard to source, maybe got lucky (and not going cheap either).

You won't regret it if you do Bruce. The SL2s are really great speakers; the only fitting replacement I found for my trusty SBLs and when driven actively (as they should be) they'll be just the ticket!

just wielding the tape measure and convincing my wife that although they are physically bigger because they are lighter colour they actually look smaller!

She's cool, she enjoys the music too but we both have to live with them.

Do go ahead Bruce. They are wonderful speakers in both looks and sound. You won't regret it.

I found them to be more of a sideways step rather than an upgrade compared to the SBL's. Hence I didn't buy them but went for NBL's instead. However, to my eyes, they look nicer than SBL's which, with their angular appearance, look somewhat dated.

I'm a big fan of SBLs but SL2s are significantly more sophisticated and mature in my view - although a tad temperamental when active as they made it petty obvious when anything was amiss with the set-up. Perhaps that is a good thing?

I went from active SBL,s to active SL2,s about 10 years ago having used SBLs for about 17 years. When I sold the SBLs I more or less got what I paid for them and since the change  have absolutely no regrets about buying the SL2's. My wife  likes the look of the speakers and I love the sound and the look. I use  CDS3 and LP12 as my sources and  would not change my speakers for any others. I would add that I did not need to alter the settings on my SNAXO for my room.
