Set up of Stageline Flatcap2 and Supernait
Posted by: Matty74 on 25 February 2016
Hi there,
wondering if someone can help me, I have a supernait pre powered by a flatcap2 and a stageline powered off aux2.
1. Is there any benefit powering the stageline off the flatcap2 rather than Aux 2
2. If so, can someone explain how do I configure it, I can't find a diagram showing how to do it
cheers
Matt
1) yes
2). You need an additional cable. A 4pin to 5pin grey interconnect.
Move your Stageline's SNAIC 5 cable to the unused 5 pin power output on your Flatcap. Then run the 4Pin to 5Pin interconnect to go from the matching signal out port on the Flatcap, and connect to the alternate Aux2 (or any other) conventional 180 degree 5pin din input socket on the Supernait.
This allows the Stageline to use the 2nd power supply on the flatcap, and audio runs back through the flatcap and out to the Supernait.
The benefit is that not only does the Supernait NOT have to share one output of the Flatcap with the Stageline, but ALSO that the Stageline gets its' own dedicated supply.
The offset is the cost of the cable you'll need to order.
I reckon it'd be worth it though.

thanks guys worked a treat
cheers

You mean you just happened to have a 4-5 DIN on hand?
I did luckily, bought it months ago just incase I needed it
what cartridges do you guys think are best suited to the stageline S,
I currently have an ortofon Rohmann blue cart, on a project Xtension12, and Focal electra 1028be speakers
Good planning. A 4-5 is not always easy to find.
Let us know what you think of the FC2 on the Stageline. Looks like you already have a very nice cart to start, but I don't really know about MCs.
Typically a Dynavector low output MC or any Lyra would work well with a Stageline-S. My dad loves his DV20X5L, and I use a Delos.
Hope this helps

Wow! Never knew you could do that. I ran my Stageline powered by a FC2 independently for several years and was very happy with it. Now have the SN1 powered by a HCDR with the Stageline powered via the AUX2 and the FC2 removed from the system.
I would connect the 4-5 din cable from the FC and not from the SL!
Powering the SN1 pre amp by FC seems a bit strange to me. I cannot imagine it would sould any better than a bare SN.
