Whilst I've loved my S-400's and have aspired to S-600's after hearing them several times the announcement to stop production prompted me to defer my proposed amp upgrade (250.2 to 300DR) and purchase a pair of S-600's.  They arrived last Friday in the special moondust finish which were the last pair in stock from my dealer.  They have integrated with my system into my room beyond expectation - simply superb.  The replay has larger scale and even more detail, but quite luscious with it so I'm very happy.  No doubt more to come as they run in, I recall the S-400's took quite some time.

Naturally am still keen to get the 300DR when finances allow, in meantime anybody got views to share on this upgrade with the S-600's?

Thanks

Hutch

Hutch,

my wife has seen your avatar and says please send us your dog immediately...

:-)

Yes our West Highland White Terrier was very cute as a puppy, unfortunately he (Ben) had to be re-housed with a new owner so I miss him dearly.

Hi Hutch

just to be sure: do you drive your 600s with a 250-DR now with satisfying results?

Thanks!

Klaus

Currently am driving the new S-600's with a 250.2 and yes am very satisfied, but know well the improvements the black box upgrades bring so am looking to demo the 300DR in the future so keen to hear what this may bring.

Hi Chris,

Yes, indeed, my dealer just leaved now. We loaded 400s on my wife' s Polo. They barely fit in the luggage spaceSo the idea to collect the 600s with this car is definetely out of the equation.

I didn' t see them yet, being still packaged, I can't wait to be at home this evening to and installing them in place of the Sats.

Also this evening Massimo will come along  for a session  with SL2s

Roberto

I personally have never heard a Naim speaker which I liked. I particularly disliked the SBL models and whilst the Ovators were better IMO, I still didn't like their overall presentation. Focal Loudspeakers on the other hand I love and purchased a second-hand pair of Electra 1028 Be's this time last year.

The synergy between Naim electronics and Focal Loudspeakers is something quite special and I think the joint company will do well selling on these strengths, which is ultimately why they have chosen to come out of the speaker market.

Admittedly I don't have Naim electronics myself, using Exposure, but we all know the link between Naim's sound and philosophy.

For the record my dealer came in  his Passat estate, he told me he is going to swap for a VW van When he delivered some S800s he had to use a serious van.

At the moment  they are still packaged and for the little i have seen, the rosewood veneer looks quite stunning.

Curiously the the Naim package  is brown and not white like usual,  with  label showing  "0" weight, also serial number seems incongrous too.

Indeed, being of 2012 vintage, it should start with 322..

They are some sort of special, perhaps a staff build or intended for review or a show. If you look at the product pages, you'll see a few 99 serial numbers on the back of boxes.

PFFFFT. life is to short . Why waste it looking for the last pairs. Although if I was handed them on a plate I would get quite excited !!!

May be a  staff build, the positve polarity is marked with a pen and number assignation also reports "seconds"

All right,

I'm at very early stages of set up, i don' t even checked the level yet and plastic caps over the spikes are still fitted. Anyway just with playing an old dvd of Italian soft crime, comparing with nSat, the spoken voices were tonally much richer and natural.  Ambient sounds and also recording hum ,noises ( it's a 1973 recording) are more obvious too. Placement in the room is 20 cm from rear wall, 85cm from each side and 250 cm apart

Definetely  it seems a good appetizer the forthconing S600
