Album art - is there a specification on this ?

Posted by: engjoo on 01 March 2016

It has been 3 years since I got my NDX and to be honest, I have been struggling to understand album art requirements.

Despite following the rules (ie getting the file name folder.jpg and having my upnp server set to display it), some album art just do not show. Is it a matter of size or resolution ? I have not seen such definitions before.

For the record, I am using Synology NAS with the latest DSM and Media Server package. Have tried setting display low res image and still doesn't work on some.

A quote from the UnitiServe manual:

The CD cover artwork will also be downloaded if available for display by the UnitiServe user interface. Artwork is downloaded and stored at up to 1280 x 1280 pixel resolution for use on UnitiServe interface hardware, such as an iPad and the n-Serve app, able to display high resolution images.

Yes ... thats a UnitiServe limitation.  Completely different from a limitation on streaming.

Just to close this - have been in discussion with the original poster and it appears it was due to him using the Beta version of DSM 6.0 on his Synology - Release Candidate for 6.0 doesn't have the same issue.

Just a correction here ... this is not a NAIM limitation ... this is a DSM Media Server limitation.

If I might add another correction,  DSM Media Server is not the limiting factor.  I have just had a quick look at albums that I have changed the original art on & the first one I went to has 2400 x 2400 , 4.51MB.

See above - sounds like it was a DSM 6.0 Beta limitation...

Yes. The culprit was the DSM 6.0 beta. For some reasons, it won't show album art with 96 DPI.

Just installed DSM 6.0 RC and as the re-indexing process goes right now, these images are showing up progressively.
