iPad, mac, or iPhone to Samsung TV

Posted by: bluesbreaker on 08 March 2016

Hi everyone. I came across a site which has a selection of Operas on demand. They are free, and funded by the European Union. I am really keen to make use of it but there's no apps for Smart TVs so it looks like I'm stuck watching on my laptop which is less than appealing.

Does anyone know of a way I can transfer the streaming video ( which is viewed on a web broswer) from my computer, phone or iPad to my Samsung smart TV? Someone said Google Chromecast might do it but as I am exclusively Apple ( iPhone, iPad, and Macs ) they also said it might not be very good. Would Apple TV do it? I thought not because it doesn't have a web browser.

I'd appreciate your advice if possible

Thank you for your help

If you can view the videos through YouTube on your IOS,  then you might be be able to use your Google account to stream to the Samsung using it's own YouTube app.

Worth a try at least!

I dug out my old Apple TV mk 3 box and it worked via Air Play. All is good and it seems to work well. Thank you

If you're into opera met opera on demand is great. It costs $15 a month and has 575  operas available with subtitles

Thanks bluesbreaker! For the moment I'm struggling with FF and Flash Player on an old iMac. Full screen is pretty much unusable, even on a slightly more recent Thinkpad X230. Until a few months ago, FF and FP worked fine on both devices. I have a subscription for the digital concert hall (also very good) and I'd like to check the met offer but first I need to get a decent video output. I cannot bring myself buying a tv and I hate buying a new iMac (again, without target display mode) just because of the crappy FP! Best, nbpf
