Laki Mera - 'The Proximity Effect'

I can't remember enjoying a new CD as much as this for a long time. Truly different and refreshing new music from the Glasgow based band.

Musical influences are apparent from melodic 1970s Krautrock (Neu etc) to Punk and beyond, with beautifully ethereal and atmospheric female vocals.

Check it out.

Couldn't agree more. Excellent CD, nice recording.

Linn are doing this as a 24bit Studio Master which is superb.

John,

Julian sent me a mail a week or so back,  saying give this album a try.

I am glad i did.

Wish it was on vinyl.

Nice tip, thanks. Got a copy from my Rough Trade Album Club and I really like it. Hard album to pigeon-hole, but definitely a keeper.

John......thanks for the heads up, nice album, bought the 24bit from Linn, sounds very nice. Reminds me of all sorts of stuff (all good).

Seconded. Lovely recording - the 24bit Linn version is very nice. Definitely a keeper :-)

I also got Clutter from 2009 - that's great too.

Agree, and it is a cheap download on iTunes vs new on Amazon (for what is a 5 track EP)

Bruce - the CD of Clutter I bought was album length (in terms of both time and number of tracks).  I don't know if it's an album proper or a collection of EPs though.

Listened on Spotify. Can't see a 24 bit recording making it any more interesting to listen too, switched off 3/4 of the way through.
