I love my Unitiserve

Look at it sitting there . All cute and handsome. Expensive but now even more so as it has a cd collection within it that costs a lot more.  I don't worry about backing up . I don't have a NAS. it hasn't given the slightest suggestion of going back to Naim since I've had it for so . Apart from when my network is off its always there to give me what I want.

I can appreciate all what's ever been said about it .. But isn't it the best product ever from Naim within a conceptual perspective ?

Yes, I do love my Unitiserve, or at least the unit I got after mine was faulty. And this seems to have happened quite some time, just search the forum and you will see the many owners complaining about the problems their unit had. My second unit is now over 6 month old and I had never had any problems. I hope it will stay so

I don't think it is a case of just or unjust, buying a CD or streaming an album from Spotify are simply different forms of consumption. One results in a one-off payment irrespective of how many times you play it. The other results in a fee every time you play it.

As an avid consumer of baroque music, I listen a lot to Otto's Baroque and Avro's Baroque, regularly purchasing my 'finds' on CD (new, through Amazon). Still, I realize that the artists receive very little from the sales of the CDs (I've heard that it amounts to about $1 of the $15 to $20 retail price). Does streaming represent a better source of revenue for baroque musicians ?

Jan-Erik,

There are too many variables involved to give you an accurate answer, however my gut feel and personal opinion is that baroque music probably represents a rather small percentage of music streamed and that income earned from streams is likely to reflect that.  However I would say that any method of accessing music where the artist receives payment is preferable to one where the artist receives nothing.

Anyway, we shouldn't derail this thread further.
