Qb forgetting the network

Posted by: Gibbsatron on 13 March 2016

Hi guys. I bought a Qb last Friday, and most of the time,  I LOVE it. it's perfect in the dining room, providing room-filling sound while being an unobtrusive but super cool box in the corner.

For context, there's a Uniti2 in the study and a Uniti Qute in the kitchen, so multi-rooming these three is  a big objective here.

All seemed to go well on initial set-up but since then the Qb seems to forget the network when left alone for a few hours, and I have to reset it using the pinhole wifi reset, which is highly annoying. I have to keep going into iPhone settings to register a new airplay speaker each time.

Am I missing something? IS there some set-up element I've missed?

Possibly your wifi signal isn't very strong in the dining room? You could try moving it to somewhere closer to the wifi for a day or two just to see if that helps?

Can you check if your network is broadcasting DHCP as auto? Also make sure all you devices use auto DHCP rather than fixed.

Does it forget the connection or  is the problem that the app gives you the "no room found" message. I had issues that seemed to be with the wireless signal, but actualy was with the routers enability  to communicate with the qb.

Folks, thanks for your replies, and apologies for the tardiness of my thanks. After a very long day at work I got hime tonight to find the Qb hasn't forgotten the network again, so here's hoping it's clinging on to it a bit more tightly now!  Fingers crossed, and if it happens again I'll certainly try your suggestions.

Sounds great right now, with Radio 3 coming out of it!

Just to add, my two full fat Muso's have all of a sudden stated losing their network connection, and that is with them pugged in via ethernet and showing a solid purple light.

The app, will then show the 'no rooms found', so i unplug the ethernet cables, and reconnect and they eventually will come back.

All in the last week or two.

This sounds to me like your router needs re-booting. You may need to restart the streamers again after the router has fully restarted although some routers will re-assign the same IP addresses and in that case re-booting the router may be enough on its own.

Thanks David,

Must admit the first time this happened, i completely reset the units back to defualt settings and after setting them up again, all was well for a while, but then then next time a few days later whilst the kitchen unit was playing the radio, it just stopped, the app went blank with the spinny circle and was totally unresponsive.

This time i did do a full reset of the router, and this did not work either.

It was only when i switched the units on, pulled the network cables and waited for the light to flash, plugged them back in and so far, seems to be ok!

Thanks Phil will do.

One of units now has a flashing red light, and flashing Naim logo and standby LED.

Strange thing is, from the app it works fine.

Ill be emailing a video across to support tonight.

Have you tried resetting it with the little pinny thing?

Just about to.

Interestingly, after reopening the app, if i select the unit from the room list, it goes to the UPDATING page, however, the progress bar doesn't fill up.

If i play anything via Apple remote/Airplay i can listen to music.

Cries, lottos traffic in this thread while I was away for work. however the good news is that the Qb now sees to be stable not he system and always there when I open the app (touch wood). It seems that it just took it a few days to "get used to" the wifi.  I'm not techy so have no idea this is something that actually happens, but bottom line is now I'm very pleased with my new toy.

Thanks once again all, for all your contributions,  so I guess the message is to be patient with new Qbs....

Still having issues with my Musos.

After the fault happened, it was suggested to unplug power for 10 mins and then power up again.

Did this and everything was fine (used yesterday) until i got up this morning and none were showing in the room list (ethernet), except the Qb that was purchased and set up yesterday (on wifi).

Email sent.
